Guild Wars 2

I am asking for some friends that I have been trying to rope into this game for some time now. If they were to pre-purchase HOT would they be able to play GW2 core with the rest of us right away? OR would they need to wait until the expac is released?

Yes, because when you buy the game you are really just buying the account, in this case an account that includes access to the core game, and HoT when it is released. Once they receive their serial code and register their account they can go to the “My Account” page and download the game. I honestly don’t think Anet would market an item to potential new customers that they can’t play right away. Customers can’t even buy the core game alone anymore directly from Anet.

I got that part, but they can install and run it right away? that’s the only thing I am trying to clarify before telling them to hurry up and buy it.

Actually, you can still buy the core game for $39.99 by clicking on the shopping cart with no HoT Pre-purchase selected.

But, yes, anyone that pre-purchases HoT can play the core game right away. =)

When I go to the “Buy Guild Wars 2” link I see no options anywhere to buy only the core game. Everything leads to the HoT version. It must be hidden well because I just looked all over. When I click the shopping cart it just says the cart is empty with a link to continue shopping, clicking that link goes back to the HoT page.

Perhaps, I have a different version of the Store…no idea about yours.

Yeah I don’t know what the issue is. I just tested it in two different browsers and through a proxy routed through Germany and get the same results.
