My wife had trouble with the trader. Error message was in a previous posting of mine. I decided to remove GW2 and reinstall as well as refresh her OS. So after reloading OXS Maverick I pulled the installer from the website and ran it. I get the icon created in the application folder. When I try to run the application the icon appears in the application bar at the bottom of the screen but nothing else happens.

I have reset pram etc, deleted the application support folder, and ran the terminal repair command. All of which have not changed anything. Icon appears but no activity at all.

I did check firewall rules as well as tried a different wifi source with no improvements. Running out of ideas and would love some help, wife would really like to do her dailies

UPDATE: Went to another Mac in the house with a working client. Copied the files from there to my wife’s desktop so it did not need to update/download anything and it still just shows the icon in the bar but never opens a launcher or show any activity onscreen at all.

I found the issue. We use Norton Security and at some point the GW2 client failed and got locked in Norton Firewall. When I deleted the client the item was identified as an unknown item. When i refreshed the OS and deleted the client the firewall application was of course unaffected. I found the stuck line item in the connection manager. Once I told it to close the connection the client then loaded and began to update. Most likely others won’t experience this unique failure but figured I would share so you could log it in the known error database. “Check for stuck or unknown connections in your firewall”
