Guild Wars 2

I appear to have downloaded the game completely, the download speed indicator goes away, the file count goes away and the progress bar is down to 0%. It was like this for over 4 hours, I restarted the computer, restarted the client, said it had 1 file missing of 262MB in size, it finishes the download and then it goes back to the same state, progress bar at 0%.
Any ideas on what it might be going on?
Is there any other way on which I can download the game?

Some players have had success with changing the language on the launcher, downloading the remaining file(s), and then changing the language back.

Nope, no luck…already opened a ticket but I’m starting to regret this whole experience…

So far, have tried the language change, safe mode, clearing the winsock thingie, updated all drivers, updated windows, disabled antivirus, firewall, repair…
Waiting on Tech Support to reply after the last set of instructions. I really hope they come up with a fix really quick.
Not sure whats the policy about refunds, but this is ridiculous. Games are supposed to be fun, not a college course on troubleshooting.

Have you tried using a different asset server? Right click a GW2 shortcut and select properties. Modify the shortcut’s target like this:

Target: “C:\Example\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187

Here are some alternate servers you can try:

If that doesn’t help, try running the game through a VPN (use a free trial of WTFast or something). There have been cases where the ISP was the problem.

Thank you, Healix! I will give it a shot as well. I’m pretty sure is not connectivity, as the download process goes smoothly. It’s the last part, the installation, that is not happening. None the less, I will try this right away. Thanks again

Just tried this and there’s no difference. Whenever I close the client and run it again, it says it has 1 file missing, 262Mbs. it downloads the file and then the progress indicator goes back to 0% and stays there. Is it supposed to stay like that for how long? I’m thinking it should start installing the game right away but nothing happens, even after 4 hours…
I’m really disappointed at this point…Got the game as a gift and as a former WoW player I wanted to jump right in to the game and see how it was.
Something similar happens with certain mmo about a galaxy far, far away. The so called “streaming” method of loading up the game is just useless. The game delivery method should have a success rate higher that 99%.

Well, I think I’m ready to give up. I guess asking for a refund is out of the question.
I guess I will have to wait until next patch or something.

UPDATE: After trying for the zillionth time, connecting to the server 62.154.232.187 worked. Game finished the installation process and now I can play! Thank you Healix!
