Installed with the discs yesterday, but obviously there is a huge update that is replacing the whole install.

Anyways, installer freezes the whole machine at different times. I tried as admin, in xp mode, turned off av and firewall, have the latest video drivers. Still freezes machine and starts over the install at 238,000 files needing updating.

I have a Core 2 Quad with MSI 560ti, 8gb ram, 2TB hard drive, Windows 7 Pro.

Searched and searched for a solution. Lots of people with the same problem – but no fix.

Pretty pathetic. If they can’t get the installer working 100%, is this game going to be worth $60? So sad the stuff they release on windows machines.

I am having the same problem. My pc usually updates very fast but this last update is taking forever. My mb/sec is always around 2mb/s but the new update has it fluctuating from oKB/s to 2mb/s and it is taking forever. And once it is almost done (95%) my whole pc froze up and i had to force shut down my pc by holding the power button. My pc is a i7 2700k, gtx 570, 12gb ram. So i tried it again and it did the same thing.

So now i try downloading it on my laptop which plays the game just fine and it also is taking forever to download and is fluctuating just like on my desktop. For me it seems like a connection issue but all of my other games update just fine. I really hope this gets fixed because i havnt been able to play the game since this new update.

Edit. my laptop seems to be updating like normal so its just my desktop now that isnt downloading it properly.

Ehhh… I’m out. I aint going to mess with this – trying for 2 days now. I’m asking for my money back. I ain’t paying for this crap. I’ll buy something else.

I did a post with the same problem coupple days ago. Its really annoying…i cant understand this. Im trying at this moment one last time…then im out (before starting lol).
I never saw a game with so many problems of freeze/crash pc, like this one. And one more time i say…there is nothing wrong with my pc. Maybe some hardware or something that this game doesnt like

I created a ticket with Support last night. They responded right away and are going thru my game advisor log. You should do the same. Maybe they will find something. I guess I should give them a chance.

Keep this updated with any news plz. Gonna work late night next days.
Anyway i alrdy follow some tips and advices posted in a ticket that i send to then.
Dont get me wrong i would like to see this solved…but this game FREEZES a system, only downloading…cmon!!! Frustrating. My patient doing test and stuff in the system is on the limit. Cant understand why, in the universe of 10000000 this one gives me problems.
I still see, every time i open this forum crash problems. Maybe ppl should join up and try to work this out with arenanet ppl.

I hear ya. I am off work today so had time to deal with support. They are super quick with the replies, but I have went through probably 40 reboots/tries. So far they have everything disabled except Microsoft processes, but it still freezes. I can’t turn anything else off so its definitely lousy programming on the installer. The only other game that gave me grief was Battlefield 3. I wasn’t the only one having problems. They game me a refund. I tried it a month after the fact and it worked. So they patched the installer I am guessing. Hopefully these guys do the same thing quick.

I have sent 2 game adviser logs, 1 HiJackthis log, I have disabled services, disabled start up items, disabled Antivirus, firewall, placed computer in DMZ, updated all drivers…nothing. Downloader freezes every time, mostly around 100mb. I have since installed 5 other games on my computer without a hitch.

I alrdy tried that. Only thing to do is disable pc and forget about this… Plz wakeup ANet ppl, this is a problem. If one or two ppl didnt manage to install/download….. hmmm yes we could say – “buy a new pc” – but people continue to appear with this problem every day.
Anyway, is someone on this topic still trying?

Ok, support has tried everything. So…. question. Are you guys installing it on your C: or main drive? I have a SSD with windows installed, and a 2Tb drive for my software. I was trying to install it on my second drive. That obviously didn’t work so I went out on a limb and am installing on my SSD for now. It’s been downloading for the last 4 hours without freezing. I am at 25% or so. So far so good. B*stard game.

I have been trying to install on C: drive. Samsung SSD 840 Pro. Freezes at like 100Mb or less every time. Sent another report to support. More specs….eeeesh! About to simply ask for a refund and come back when they update installer.

Well, it went well all night. Got to 48% and 10Gb. But it was froze this morning. So, forget what I said. It’s a POS.

Done that alrdy. The installation in diferent partitions. And guess what???? It freezes

They wouldnt give me a refund. I bought it at Walmart and they wont take back opened software. SO… anyone thinking about buying this game…. buy it digitally or stay away from it all together. In the mean time, I am downloading on my laptop and see if I can transfer over the files to my gaming pc.

Update – got it working. Installed and downloaded on my laptop, then moved the files to the gaming pc. Only way to get it working kitten

Why did it change my swear to ‘kitten’… ha ha.

Im happy for u…that worked for me also, download and play in my laptop, but i wanna understand why the launcher/game doenst like my pc!? Cant understand coz is only a freeking download!!!
Anyway and again more ppl keep coming with this problem! And solution 0!!!

I am having this exact issue as well. I have attempted installing 3 times, each install locks up between 42% and 49%.
