Guild Wars 2

I just bought the game and just tried installing it to find out that the installer starts, downloads a little, and then stops. It seems to download one ‘burst’ of data and then quit. I’ve tried multiple times, and it’s gotten up to 104kb at most, and is currently sitting at 67kb after trying again.

Useful info:
-OS: Windows 8.1
-All drivers are up to date
-Firewall is disabled
-AVG is disabled
-All other programs seem to work fine
-UAC disabled

I am having the same problem trying to run the setup. I was running GW2 fine on this PC and needed to reinstall. I’ve searched and cannot find a solution to this since I have no files on my PC

Well well I’m having the same problem too; after I finally decided to actually buy a MMORPG game because I never have and this happens :/ Been trying to make it work for probably 3hours or more; I even did the msconfig and disable AVG :/

Same problem. I wonder if too many people are trying to download the game at once with this sale going on.

Having the same issue. While I take solace in the fact that i’m not the only one dealing with this I still already regret buying this.

The game is great, and problems like this don’t happen a lot. I’ve been playing for a while. It’s just a huge inconvenience when it does. Especially when there is no answer and so many people have this issue.

I’m hoping that the issue is just due to the massive amounts of people downloading from the sale like other people have mentioned. I’ve been playing for ages and I’ve never seen this, so either something weird’s going on or the servers are slammed.

Yep thats the same thing happening to me I submitted a ticket; but I wonder if it’s heavy traffic coz the sale? o.o
UPDATE: wth? I have it running and it went well then it dropped to (0kb/s) o.O The speed goes up and downloads a little and it drops again ._.

Yeah I just had my download go way further than it had and I thought it was working… Nope.

Whyyyy!!! SUPER UPDATE: I went past that and it’s installing. I dont know what made it work but I had my avg disabled and did the msconfig thing.

Okay, it’s a server problem, so there’s nothing we can do except wait. Oh well.

Hi! Same problem here! I Have window 7, And it worked fine, untill i reinstalled it! ;/
I spent more than 7 houers to fix this thing, but i’ve got nothing. It Seems that some People in 2012 had the same problem. But I did not found (yet) a selution…

Has anything official been said about this? I’m having this issue now, disabled all my security and nothing seems to work. I uninstalled the game a redownloaded the client and that doesn’t work either. I’m getting frustrated :-X

Same problem here. Download speed is hovering around 50-100kb/sec (when, my down speed is 30mbps), and every so often just drops down to 0 for a few minutes.

I’ve forwarded all suggested ports, turned off firewalls, turned off antivirus, added -image to the launcher. Nothing. But, I guess since so many other people are having the same issue, it’s looking like it’s a server-side problem.

Which is unfortunate, because I was looking forward to getting into this game this weekend, but if it continues like this, I’ll be lucky if I can play it within a week. Agreed with above, would be nice to hear something official on this.

Having the exact same problem. Got as far as the patching screen and then it just kept stopping and kicking me off with an error. I made the SUPER BAD mistake of uninstalling and trying again and now I am at the original screen, stuck.

I took the last 2 nights off so I could try this game again, and I regret it. Could we PLEASE get an official word about this? Kind of not a nice way to greet potential new players…

I’m having the same troubles as everyone else. I bought the game close to 6 months ago, played the crap out it. One day the launcher just decided not to work. Everyone else was having the same problem at the time, but again it was during a 50% sale. So I waited till it was over and waited a couple more days to be safe. Same problem.

I love the game to bits, but it sucks when the launcher dosen’t work. Every time I think

To anyone still having this problem, I’ve found a (janky) solution. I was a bit skeptical of it at first, but it fixed this problem for me; I’m downloading at 1.5MB/sec now.

You can try connecting through a free VPN. This just requires you to temporarily set up a network connection on your computer. (See http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn for more info) You can delete this connection after the download completes.

- Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
- Click on “Set up a new connection or network”
- Select “Connect to a workplace” and click Next
- Select “User my Internet connection (VPN)”
- Paste the below into the “Internet address:” box and click next (Note, this address may change in the future, check http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn for the latest servers)

- Enter the following username and password, check the “Remember this password” box, and click “Connect”:

And you should be good to go. Just wanted to share this solution since this was a fairly frustrating affair and I was happy to finally have it resolved.

Glad I could help! Yeah I was in the same boat, after messing around with it all day I was about ready to just give up on the game and get a refund. But, I finally found something that worked.

Same issue here, also not able to patch Wildstar launcher either for beta weekend which I only mention because GW2 and WS are both NCSOFT… might be connected.

If you have to use a VPN connection to update and run the game, then you have a problem with your ISP or a network node between your ISP and the game servers.

This is not a problem with the game servers. I’ve had no problems updating or playing the game.

I’m stuck at 0/0 DL speed and it won’t load past the screen

i to am also having problems with this and searching for more than 5 hours to try to fix this problem i still have not seem to find anything but it does seem that alot of people are having this problem and hopefully the devs will look into this problem and check it out because it seems like alot of people cannot install there game nor play it.

my game loads to 10% then goes to 0kb/s and now that i tried to fix this problem i cant even load up the gw2 launcher it loads then crashes to 0kb/s after 10 seconds.

I’m getting this problem too. I guess I should I call up my ISP and complain to them? It’s never been a problem before though and my wife, who has the latest patch, isn’t having any trouble playing the game so it seems to be just the patch servers.

I have the same problem , the download starts and everything goes fine and then suddenly it stops and says Connection Error , Retrying…… and stay freezing on that position and even when i close the launcher and open it again the download starts from 0% again as in all the date that has been downloaded is erased

After three or four days of being unable to patch, I started my installer this morning before work and downloaded the last ~40MB of the latest patch almost instantly. Not sure what changed, but hopefully this won’t be a problem in the future.
