As the title says.

My current system is a Core i5 @3 GHz, 8 GB 1600 Mhz Ram, a 128GB SSD and my Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 TI.

I run the game at highest settings even with supersampling i almost everywhere get between 70 and 80 FPS (except right after the start there are sometimes drops for 7/8 FPS, after that everything is ok)

In WvW when i run around (alone) i only get about 40 FPS, still not bad.

But when i’m running with a Zerg, it goes down to 16/17 FPS and stays there when in combat. Out of Combat it’s about 25 FPS

Two things i noticed:
- It doesn’t matter which settings i choose, even on lowest settings (same resolution, but subsample) it stays at 16/17 in combat, 25 out of combat.
- In PvE mass Events are no Problem (the Balthasar i did a few minutes ago was all above 40 FPS)

Is this normal in WvW or can i do anything to get my FPS higher there?

I don’t attract, I don’t repel. That’s kinda odd

That’s normal for WvW (Gw2 very CPU-Bound in heavy battles)

Overclock the I5, especially if it is a K series (they are MEANT to be overclocked). The 660 TI you have is bottlenecked until you approach 4 ghz.

No MMO game engine can render highest quality shadows at 60 fps with a few hundred players on the screen. People are simply asking the impossible.

Turning down shadows/reflections will also help. Shadows are very hard to render when there are a few hundred players/abilities/siege animations going on.

With an OC and shadows down you should be at 30ish in large battles.

sadly i can’t overclock my cpu (i’m not a fan of oc anyway)

about the shadows, then, why does the fps stay the same, even on lowest settings?

Turn ‘reflections’ to terrian and sky, and ‘shadows’ to high.

If ur i5 is 2nd/3rd gen and a K series then OC’ing it will help ALOT. If u havnt got a good one alreayd ge ta good aftermarket cpu coolerl ike the coolmaster evo 212. attach it and OC ur cpu as close to 4.5ghz as u can ..or higher. With that u shouldnt see fps drop below 30 anywhere.

EDIT: reducing shadows will help reduce load on the CPU. .however if a different GW2 thread is already maxed out due to huge numbers of players .reducing shadows may not do a thing, it will however help when the thread that handles Shadows and other things is nearly maxed out. bassicaly it wont help in all occasions but it will help in some.
