Hello guys,

I just bought myself a new computer today.

MB – ASUS Maximus V Gene
CPU – Intel i5 3570K @ 3.8Ghz (turbo enabled)
RAM – 16GB GEIL Evo Corsa @ 1600Mhz
SSD – A DATA XPG SX910 128GB

My GPU is kinda old though – ATI 4850 HD 512mb/256bit

When I first entered LA I had around 30 fps on the settings that the game automatically gave me – most were medium, one or two high I think. But when I switched to best appearance, the fps dropped to 15-16-17, max 20.

Can someone confirm if the GPU is hurting it all? I’m gonna buy a new one soon, but just wanted to be sure that was it.

I’m going to overclock to 4.5Ghz to see if anything changes. One thing I can’t complain about is the loading speeds, they’re pretty fast on an SSD (it’s my first one).

Thanks in advance!

If you adjust your graphic settings and FPS changes alot then its the GPU. If the FPS doesnt change much then its the CPU. That or you can look at your GPU % utilization. (Read Q5 for tools on doing so)

tl;dr
Yes, your GPU is holding your FPS back.

Indeed You GPU is your weak link, and it will be what is causing your FPS to drop.
