I am not sure if it is OK to put this up here but I’ll see what happens when its up.

I would like someone to tell me if my current specification is suitable enough to play any game, not just guild wars 2, without any problems. I spent a lot of money to upgrade it but there is always a chance that I bought incompatible hardware or got something that requires a newer or bigger component to work properly.

Here is my Specification:

CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-core
RAM: 4GB
Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 550Ti
Hard drive: 2TB (I think its Seagate)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology M78SM-S2H
Power supply: Corsair CX600 (600watts)

There it is, all I know about my computer. I don’t know if the case would count, but seeing as an improper airflow could cause problems is there a way to find out what it is so I can see if its good or not? As a side note I have a few cables that are not plugged to anything in the case, and was told that some cables would not plug into anything as they are if you have a different component that requires them.

I hope someone will be able to let me know if its improperly specified or not. Thank you for taking the time to read this

What is “a lot of money”? No offense but there isn’t anything in your configuration that is current or high dollar.

I’d imagine you should be able to play the game on up to medium settings.

What resolution is your monitor?

Not to be offensive or anything but your living up to your name, this person(s) clearly quite proud of their pc and rightfully so. There is no need to beat down on someone just because in your opinion their pc is sub par. Also everyone has a different view on the phrase “a lot of money” since this could be a teenager spending their weekly pocket money that could have took months to save up to upgrade their computer or a person with plenty of savings and felt like splashing out, either way its rude and disrespectful to assume their pc is inadequate simply because it does not have the latest graphics card or processor.

In my own opinion I believe the computer configuration is quite adequate and should be reasonable to play most games to an acceptable level.

Your computer is definitely fast enough to run the game my friend, I would think that you should be able to run it fine with most graphical settings at medium and some at high! It might be an idea to get yourself a decent after market CPU cooler if you don’t already have one as GW2 is pretty CPU heavy and a little OC wouldn’t go unnoticed. I would personally recommend the “Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus” which is what I’m using right now, it’s cheap and it does a good job at keeping my CPU cool Hope this helps.

I stated that the OP should be able to play on medium settings with his setup. There was nothing in my post that was rude or offensive.

When I am looking for advice I want straight-up, honest answers, not bs and coddling.

EDIT: BTW – you can plainly see my specs in my signature. My system is not “high end” by any stretch of the imagination.

Most PC’s will have lots of cables not plugged in. A PSU comes with many leads and connections. This allows a PC to work with different amount of devices. If one was meant to be connected either the PC would not boot or a device might be missing (Hard drive or DVD).

Your PC should be fine to play. My CPU is an Intel Quad core q6600 at 2.4ghz, has 8gb memory and same graphics card as yours. I get to run max settings but reflections on none and shaders on medium at 1920×1200 and get 14 to 40 fps (14 when lots of people fighting on screen)
