I was recently looking for some guides and articles about mystic forge (as the article on the main wiki is not quite full). I started to search for some results in Google. After a while I found a quite good article on the topic I was looking for but as I scrolled down the website (which, by address and link was looking fine) I found offers with gold purchase, character powering up etc. Knowledge about the dangers coming from these sources made me close the page immadietly and block it by my web browser. Right after that I’ve scanned my pc with newest version of Avast antivirus and searched for any new files, I haven’t found anyting and that worries me as I think there might be a keylogger hidden somewhere and my account might be in danger. I have firewall on strict settings, full version of avast with active web scan and newest firefox with few blocking plug-ins.

What should I do now to keep my account safe from the threat wihich MIGHT be there? Change passwords from a different computer?

Use “keyscrambler” in your webbrowser (it help make all you type into random letters and numbers for most key logger’s log.)

Avast is great BUT i recommend you to use a specific spyware, not all antivirus are that great at catch spywares.

If you find any suspect file submit it to www.virustotal.com because it do a search with lot of antivirus at the same time.

Do not forget to clean your cookies and logs, use “CCleaner”. Lot of virus and spywares come from temporary files that you get from internet.

Use a e-mail with 2 authetication ways (gmail.com for example wich will require your cellphone to enter) and then IF Arenanet implement the e-mail change confirmation (they probably will since they have blocked e-mail change today) you will get your account almost impossible to be hacked even with keyloggers and spywares in general.

Leave enabled the Ip authetication too, so they cant get into the game.

Thanks Wraith. I have installed KeyScrambler and made a full scan with SpyBot, which haven’t found any dangers. My CCleaner is set on autocleaning every 6h so it was no problem.

How can I enable the IP authentication?
