So, I got an email today, or earlier today about my account having strange transactions or something. Of course, me being me, I panicked and followed the instructions that was given. I put in my email address, my living address, account name and all that. Then, going back in game, i realised that the in-game email, was not sent by the Arena net team, even though it said ‘GM’. Of course, I am now more worried that I might be more prone to being hacked. I changed my email password and all, but I can’t tell the same for my GW2 account.

Is this En Porche person really an anet officer?

Please help. I have been playing on this account for a long time, and I really don’t want to lose it.

You have given all your account information to a phishing site. You need to change the password for your game account, scan your computer for key-loggers and other malware, scan for viruses, etc., and contact the CS Team and let them know your account may be compromised, as well.

Always pay heed to the disclaimer/warning that the mail is sent by just another player, and is NOT from the ArenaNet team.

It is not legit, I received the same email and asked support. Since you filled out the information I would do what the other poster suggested. As well as change your log in information for other game accouts if you use the same account info to log in.

Thanks for the replies. I have changed my gw2 account password and my email password.

I panicked because I was mistaken with the issue that the accounts with a full world completion character will have a downtime to fix the problem where no rewards will be given to the character for completing a HoT map. I thought some kind of mistake occurred with the process and my account was going to get banned.

That’s what the kitten -holes who sent it to you bank on, it’s why phishing is so successful.

You don’t use the same password on multiple sites I hope (gaming or otherwise), if you do you need to change those too, pronto!

Since these things pop up from time to time, and players keep failing to see the obvious warning text at the bottom, I think Anet needs to make it more visible somehow.

Maybe a big blinking text at the beginning of the letter that you absolutely can’t miss, possibly even a confirmation button before you get to actually read the message.

You may want to contact customer support and ask to have a new email address associated with your account, as the scammer may have enough information to switch your account to a new address of their own choosing.
