Hello, I just purchased this game and right now I am trying to figure out how to keybind my spells to the buttons on my mouse. I’ve got the WoW Cataclysm Gaming mouse and I was told it should be able to work in Gw2
I know how to get into the keybinding but when I try to keybind to a button on the mouse nothing happens. Oddly enough two of the buttons on the mouse do work. All I have to do is click them into the box and it comes up as ‘Mouse 4’ or ‘Mouse 5’

If anyone has any suggestions I’d really appreciate it.

The mouse is not yet fully supported by GW2 or the built-in memory is clashing with the game itself. There’s a work around it, however. Map your desired buttons on the mouse and save it on memory, then uninstall the mouse software. That should make it work.

Hope it helps.

I have a Razer Naga Molten Edition, I was able to keybind dodge, swap weapon and acquire/lock/call target there. I did set it to Numpad Mode on Razer Synapse then binded it in-game.

Hi Vail

Currently, Guild Wars 2 should detect the mouse buttons as actual mouse buttons (mouse3, mouse4 etc etc). However, if it doesn’t there is a trick to bypass this and just use generic settings. To do this, you need to access the mouse’s key binding application and bind the keys you want to use to keyboard keys.

For example:

I use a Logitech MX1000. It has 3 side buttons which many games do not recognize as mouse keys. Instead of trying to configure each game to remember the key binds I simply told the mouse software that those buttons are bound to “Page up,” “Page Down” and “Insert.” Then, I start the game of my choice, (Guild Wars 2 in this case) and bind the something like “map” to “Page up” in the keyboard section (not mouse). This way, when I hit the mouse button, the game thinks I am pressing “Page up” so it opens the map.

Beyond this, you will have to wait for your application software to be updated so it works with Guild Wars 2.

Ashley – your actually able to use your MX mouse with GW2?

I have a Bluetooth MX Laser mouse which was completely unusable with GW2 as it would regularly seemingly ‘go dead’ and become unresponsive. (GW2 is the only application/game that it happens with) I swap it out with a corded mouse to play GW2.

“I was playing Farmville and a kitten MMO GW2 broke out of it…”
I cut my gaming teeth on Adventure&ZorkI,II,III.

You can do it the way other have suggested which can lead to problems with other games of course..

I also have a cata mouse and the best way to bind them and keep the software install for use with other games is as follows.

Use the standard binds build into the SteelSeries software for wow.

Open Map, Open Bags, action bar 1, target self etc….

These are the keys the built in binds are actually emulating.
Target self = f1
Target party member 1 = f2
Target party member 2 = f3
Target party member 3 = f4

Action button 1 = 1
Action button 2 = 2
Action button 3 = 3
Action button 4 = 4
Action button 5 = 5
Action button 6 = 6
Action button 7 = 7
Action button 8 = 8
Action button 9 = 9
Action button 10 = 0

For any other binds open notepad and pick binds in the mouse software press the button and you will see what button the mouse software is emulating. For example if u bind open map to mouse button 10 hit apply then press mouse ten while in notepad you will get an ‘m’ or if you bind say open bags u should get a b.

Now there will be times when gw2 may crash or a new build is out and the game restarts. This normally borks the mouse software and the mouse binds will stop working. One way to fix this is by restarting your pc but of course who has the time 8D.

Open task manager find WoWMHID2.exe, right click and end task. Now browse to the stellseries folder(usually C:\Program Files (x86)\SteelSeries\World of Warcraft Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse) and double click the WoWMHID2.exe. That should fix the the mouse binds in gw2 without needing to restart your pc.

Enjoy still using the mouse software, profiles, colors etc for other games and gw2!!!!

I did this very thing with my Logitech G500s as a last measure to try and get it to work. It didn’t. The mouse even has a preloaded profile for GW2, and that didn’t help either.
