This just started happening this morning, no changes were made to my computer at al between when I logged off last night and logged in today.
After selecting a character (any of my 5) I get the loading screen for whatever region they were in and after about 10 seconds the game closes and the login screen reappears. I receive no errors or dialog boxes at all. The game simply closes and relaunches the login client.
I searched and did not see anyone with a similar problem.

And to keep the thread going. Same issue here this morning.
Multiple characters tried from multiple systems.
Same problem. Several characters, two different computers.
I wonder when will they fix the problem?
same problem here. it started at first last night when I could log into a character, but would get kicked out of the game any time i tried to enter WvW, PvP or a Wintersday activity. I could see my friends list had people in these areas so I know it was just me at the time.
Now i’m having the exact same problem as the OP. Log in, select character (tried them all), get to load screen to LA or HotM, get kicked out, now back at log-in screen.

I had the same issue. You can delete the local.dat file and do a repair on the file. However this just leads to another bug which gives you a error code on log in. 58:11:5:512 so far 7 hours and I cannot log in
same problem im going crazy…. im losing conection with server¡’¿ im also getting a bug where i can chat in game.. and move but everything else is freezed… and then i dc… and lose conection to server.. started with this problem like 3 or 2 days ago..

Just for reference getting exact same error code here too.
Even attached screenshot.
so this is how i solved my problem :
1. connect to a vpn software
2. launch ur gw2 client n it will start updating the hotfix which our client didn’t downloaded
3. have fun
P.S. u dont need vpn software after downloading that hotfix n sry for my bad english

Would just like to verify this post just downloaded CyberGhost 5 and the hotfix is running while i am typing this post. Will also verify if i am able to login after the download is done.
Typing this while in game.

I can confirm using a VPN to set your location to the U.S. (version of the game I have) worked. I got the patch ankitten ow able to login and play. I am currently overseas but have not had trouble downloading patches before until yesterday, so lesson learned.
