Guild Wars 2

Ok, in the last few days a file named “THIRDPARTYSOFTWAREREADME”
Keeps appearing my my guild wars 2 file, with the DAT file, application etc.

I delete it but it comes back, I move the whole folder and delete the file, but it comes back, is this meant to be there or should I be worried?

It makes me even more paranoid as I’ve dropped to sub 10 FPS from 50-60 for no reason

Done an AVG scan and picked up nothing

Sorted the FPS issue but this file is still making me nervous, I’m pretty sure it’s never been there before

It’s not a virus, if that’s what you’re concerned about. It was added to the folder with the feature patch release.

Did you read it? A text file cannot harm your computer if opened (assuming it is REALLY a text file).

It lists all the software the game uses directly or was developed with including the transgaming portions for the Mac. And since Transgaming is base in open source it’s required to distribute that.

Need to submit a ticket and possibly post that in the BUG forum (if one does not already exist). I’m not sure how the existence of a text file in a folder can crash the game client, but I guess if it is somehow corrupted…..?

Only thing I can think of is if GW2’s client exe checks for the existence of certain files (which it does), but does not respond gracefully to that file’s existence or non-existence (due to corruption of the exe) OR has issues gaining access to the file (a/v precluding or perms issue, this MIGHT happen. This would intimate a problem with the exe.
