Lag after 03/20 maintenance
i stay and SEA too and have been getting really bad lags in wvw, fotm and general world pve. i have been playing since pre release and its the first time my lag is so bad…..
I stay at Malaysia consider SEA also, starting yesterday me and my friend encounter this lagging problem also. I will delay more then 20sec in WvW , delay about 1-3sec in PvE world. I did try to browsing internet such as youtube, that’s nothing different compare with last time, but GW2 is lagging……
I am from SEA as well, and experienced the lag after maintenance. Seems only those from SEA are affected? I asked over map chat and others weren’t lagging.
i’m having same issue here too
i play at late times after midnight so i never experienced lag until recently
i cannot do anything at all. always running the wrong way and falling from cliffs or not noticing that i’m dead till 3 min after and attacking the air or spin around on myself for few minutes
the game is unplayable when it comes to WvW and i’m getting spikes in PvE too.
Me too SEA has issue on this maintenance i hope it gets fixed soon cause a lot of people are getting affected not to mention almost half of GW population came from SEA countries!
I’m also having really bad lagspikes for like 2-3 seconds just today in PVE, which never happens before. I’m playing from Japan.
I’m from SEA too, been playing the game since launch and this is the first time that I encountered this horrendous lag. I’ve been using the same system and ISP and everything was fine until the most recent maintenance. Lag is causing the game to be unplayable for me. I keep stop dancing (we call it rubber banding) my skills are delayed by a couple of seconds even if there are no big fights going on. I have a decent system giving me decent FPS at all times (never went below 20 fps even the big zerg fights at Stonemist Castle). Several of my friends in-game are also experiencing the same thing, they’re also from SEA region. My ISP is one of the most reliable in my country (PLDT) in terms of gaming, I’ve had over a decade of experience with my ISP in playing online games with no problem. I’m always using direct cable, never router when gaming. But to make sure I called my ISP anyway and verified that I have great connection and that no service maintenance or problem should cause hiccups or issues with my connectivity as far as they are concerned. I even took my PC to the nearest and trusted PC specialists to have it checked, and they gave it a thumbs up, in good condition (I’m not IT savvy, but that’s what PC specialists are for, and they never failed me yet through the years of their service to me).
I like this game and I hate that I can’t enjoy it because of this issue. There are several guildmates from my country that are experiencing the same thing. I hope you can address this quickly.
PS: I play from the Philippines. Already sent a mail to support. Looking forward to a speedy solution. Thanks.

I am quite dissapointed with the tech support. they made me do a lot of tests and in the end they just told me to contact my ISP provider. tbh. i;ve been using the same ISP since i played gw2 and not experiencing any lags. just now. I’ve also tried playing other online games to test if it’s my internet. and there’s no problem. i also tried playing Dota 2 and tried to connect to SEA, US , EU servers no problem .. so i am confident it’s not on my end. i just really want a more “TRANSPARENT” response so we’ll know what to do..
I have also been experiencing a lot of lag after the maintenance, I also am from SEA. This lag was not here before and why should it be here now? Can a dev respond to this post since most of us are anxious in waiting for your replies?
Anet staff doesn’t seem to answer threads about lag. I’d rather not bother posting anything about the said topic.
I live in the Philippines and I am experiencing the laggness for 2 days… please help us. Thanks.
+1111111111111111111111111111111 since the maintenance lots of spikes !
2 days ago the game has been unplayable because of lag. please do something about the this issue
lag wasn’t an issue before, but its horrible atm. delays of 10sec+ sometimes even without any opponents around. spiking bad. internet seems fine with anything else. getting sick of wasting money on repairs for a problem caused by someone else.
I’m from Philippines and the game recently just became unplayable due to latency issues. I have been playing since November and I have not experienced anything like this. I assure you that my system is clean and has not been modified in any way same with my Internet connection.
The lag is horrible. Everything’s delayed, it takes 1 Moa to kill me and when there are lots of players in the area, my character becomes non-responsive and in turn will result to a disconnection.
I am sure you have been swamped with similar complaints and I am hoping that this will be resolved soon.
Attached is my NetWrokDiag.log just in case.

Pinging the servers gives me 300~600+ ping and sometimes Request Timed Out. Which I also did with other games and it shows normal ping up to 100~200. Since the 3/20 maintenance I received undescribable pve(every map also tried guesting), pvp, and wvw(every map) skill delays/lags. Hopefully this gets fixed before the weekend.
i guess i’m not the only one then. also from philippines. these past few days i’ve been getting latency issues only on guildwars2. i’ve tried playing other games but they’re all fine. tested my connection on speedtest and it was the same as always.
@other pinoys
is your isp pldt?
@Chok – yup, lagging like really bad here..using pldt 1mbps connection..i tried playing diablo 3 and the game plays really smooth, no delay and all..its just this game that is lagging like hell..
pls fix anet people.. people wanna play your game you know.. tsk3x
@chok Yes, im using PLDT 700kbps… I hope they fix this because I don’t wanna spoil my holiday(s) vacation here in the Philippines. :S
Come on anet fix this.. don’t tell it’s our isp cause if it is. we’ll experience lag also on other games .. been posting here for the past 3 days .. no action is being made.. even 1 reply from the dev team -.-
Oh, man.. i have a bad feeling about this. i tried using globe broadband and it seems they aren’t affected by this. maybe it’s between pldt and anet?

@other pinoys
is your isp pldt?
Yup, my ISP is PLDT MyDSL…and the game is still unplayable for me…this lag is really frustrating.
I tried pinging the server: ping 64.25.39.1 -t and ran it for a couple of minutes.
Sent: 706
Received: 632
Lost: 74 (10%)
This is a crucial piece of data. I tried pinging several other random sites and got 0% packet loss. If it was my ISP, it should have shown packet losses in every ping test, but it didn’t, just the IP of the guildwars 2 server.
I also performed the network diagnostic test and saw hops that indeed had packet losses. Being in Asia and servers at NA, my ping has always been between 300-350ms from the beginning and still is today which is still playable, but the problem is, there seem to be a disconnect somewhere along the hops from my computer to the game’s servers that’s causing these lags…especially at the destination where it matters most, there’s still packet loss in the destination at the end of the hops.
Going back to my first test, the packet losses don’t seem to be originating from my ISP. ANET, please fix this, what we’re experiencing is really game breaking, your game is unplayable to us who are experiencing this.
EDIT: MY ISP, PLDT, is one of the most reliable ISP’s, if not the most, in online gaming in our country. I’ve used this playing other top MMO titles like WoW, SWTOR, Warhammer, and DAOC never experienced this kind of problem.

wow… so much filipinos here… makes me relieved I am not the only one… but still bad news for us as I keep lagging too… PLDT user also with 5 mbps connection here from the philippines… also called PLDT hotline and they said the same thing to my internet connection… no problems… also filed a ticket to NCSoft with game advisor result attachments… waiting for their answer… @chok if what you say is true then we will be having a hard time convincing PLDT with this problem…
Yes! Thank you so much that finally this issue is brought up on the forums. I’ve been experiencing incredibly depressing delays for the past two days, and this also just started after the maintenance.
What’s really annoying is that my internet is fine anywhere else but I can’t even play Guild Wars 2 properly without getting frustrated because all my skills have ridiculous delay. I’m in the Philippines with PLDT as my internet service provider.
If it’s any concern, my IP is : 112.206.34.244

@vaasgoth
that’s what scares me the most. if it ends up a problem between a specific isp (pldt) to a specific service (gw2), would they bother fixing this? i hope so. today i used globe broadband stick as a substitute to play guildwars 2, and i hope it doesn’t become permanent because globe has this frequent lag spike that pldt doesn’t have (at least before this happened).

I just logged in to the game and it’s still lagging like hell. Hopefully ANet addresses this soon, but given their track record – I’m not holding my breath.
Fellow Filipinos, I don’t think the problem is with a specific isp. I’m a Filipino but I live in the US. I’ve been experiencing this kind of lag too. 3-5 seconds of skill and NPC delays. I really hope Anet responds. I can’t play Guild Wars 2 and I’m really itching to.
still no reply from any of the devs / tech supports -.-
After providing diagnostic tests (network diagnostic and ping plotter) to support they told me to contact my ISP for assistance because I’m experiencing packet loss.
I already called my ISP numerous times since I started experiencing the excessive lag. MY ISP asked me to ping other destinations and see if I’m still experiencing the packet loss. If indeed the problem is coming from my ISP, then the packet loss should have been consistent with every destination that I tried pinging or tracing.
I wasn’t losing any packets except when I ping the guildwars 2 IP servers and it’s at around 8-12% just a couple of minutes ago which is big…even 2% packet loss is considered serious already. If this was ISP, I would have been experiencing tremendous performance dip in my connectivity in all the other things in the internet, but no…it’s as fast as I remember it.
I even found another game server IP address located in Texas and I ping’ed there and had 0% packet loss just to try to simulate the geographical factor in latency. When issues like this arise, the process of elimination is the key. I talked to support, I talked to my ISP, I performed every test you asked me, I also performed my ISP’s tests…and it’s clear that the problem is confined in Guildwars 2 servers and I wasn’t able to replicate the issue in any other IP destination I tried testing it on.
Clearly, it’s a server issue. ANET, please, fix this. I can’t describe how frustrated I am right now. My patience is really depleting. Please stop beating around the bush, and giving us copy-paste replies, telling us things we already know, and actually fix this. Thank you very much.
EDIT: Typo errors. I’m also from Philippines using PLDT DSL.
Sincerely, Very frustrated but still loyal customer…

^— THAT’s THE Frustrating part . i also did that kind of “TESTS” they told me to make and passed them the results. and they tell me it’s my ISP? i was like wtf? my ISP is not available on other countries.s and they experience the same lag as well.. WHAT IM TRYING TO PINT POINT IS if it’s our ISP then why the heck other countries are experiencing the same lag and they use a different Connection than us? doesn’t make sense right… TECH support are made to fix problems not to cover up craps for the customer. I am kitten off and frustrated cause i like this game. Don’t get me wrong. i am not trying to be rude but sometimes you just need to SHOUT OUT what’s inside you in order for you to be heard -.- WE need a reply ANET.. Just tell us what’s exactly going on. being transparent to your customers is part of the business -.-
Glad to hear that am not alone… The developer really need to do something about this. It have already been a quite a few days… of lag… Couldn’t enjoy the game at all . Help plz…. The game is so unplayable
i’m from the Philippines to and i’ve been having this problem since the said date. All my other games and programs are running smoothly and i have PLDT 1 mbps. Out of said 1 mbps of internet speed, gw2 is only using about 10% of that (10kbps). I havent had this problem before and i hope they fix it. I tried using WTFast a proxy server and it improved my connection by a little, but im still experiencing lags and stutters especially vs. large groups in WvW. This tells me that this maybe a server problem in Arenanet’s side and not my internet connection. The funny thing is when I play from 12am (GMT+8 ) onwards my game runs smoothly. Please Anet fix this problem.
Is using proxy considered as a hacking tool? can we use Proxy for now just to compensate the lag while the Anet is figuring out the root cause of the problem of Lag?
All I’m asking from you guys is for someone from Anet will reply to this thread and tell us the current status of there investigation regarding to this matter.
Also from the Philippines / SEA and you can add me to the list of people affected by this recent lag problem. I want to hear from non-PLDT ISP users, Are you guys experiencing delays?
Also, I’d appreciate people from other countries who are experiencing the same problem to post here as well, stating your location. Already sent my ticket a few hours ago and I hope Anet responds soon.
It’s not fun to wait for a dragon to spawn, then watch helpless as the lag prevents your character from attacking. Not to mention getting booted out a few minutes later.
Hope it gets fixed soon.
@Knocom. yes it’s not our ISP i’ve proven it.. most of my guildees are from canada and they experience the same lag that we do.. and my friend back in japan lags too. so this is definitely not on our end.
I mean no it’s not our isp*
Israel here.
I have lag problems for the past week can’t really do much in game.
I was hoping its a problem from my end but its not.
Did lots of tests and it seems i have a big PL(20-35%) from a host server in Germany.
DNSName of the server is : xe-0-3-0.fra60.ip4.tinet.net
ip: 141.136.108.33
If you guys use it as a host please contact them if not i don’t know what other then this it can be.
I hope it will get fixed soon , I really miss playing the game <\3.

I’m actually glad to see I’m not the only person experiencing this. I hope to see a reply from Anet soon.
Experiencing the same thing, with the severe lag after the 3/20 patch. From the SEA region, using PLDT as well.
Hopefully this gets resolved sometime soon, enjoying the game is difficult with this sort of lag.
Experiencing the same issue here from Singapore (SEA).
I’m actually relieved to see that i’m not the only one who experience the same lag.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon as it is un-playable in the current state.
I already posted in the Network lag merged post hoping for any answer or action on this packet loss problem.
I would just like to reiterate in this thread that it has been 3 days since this strange lag occurred (immediately after the 3/20 maintenance) and there has been no improvement. NCSoft Technical Support suggested I contact my ISP, which I did, and even talked to a senior network engineer after pestering their Customer Support to talk to a technical person on their side. I submitted the same PingPlotter report NCSoft requested me to generate and he pointed out that the packet losses were specific to two servers, the IP address of one belonging to NCSoft. It was clear that the signals were strong (0% loss) up to the mainland US. Losses started occurring when the traffic hit the server farm in Dallas (ae-3-80.edge2.Dallas1.Level3.net.) coming from a Los Angeles router.
Also, it might be of interest to note that this type of lag I am experiencing is different from the intermittent lag I had prior to the 3/20 update. Before, if I ever lagged (which was rare), my character would freeze at moments, actions would stutter and panning the camera is jerky even when just moving around a town. You clearly know and feel that lag is present. This state does not last long however, and it always subsides if I wait a few moments.
Now, actions, as well panning the camera 360 degrees, are smooth. You see other players and NPCs move about smoothly. Effects and animations are normal. However, upon entering combat and fire a skill, there’s a 1-2 second delay and tactical positioning is way off. After being engaged in combat, my character starts to rubber band together with mobs and/or players around me. In all of these, animations and effects are still smooth (if it gets to fire) but everything seems to be all over the place and the combat is messy to say the least. On my D/D ele, which I use to solo even champions prior to the 3/20 maintenance, I died on 3 moas since I lost all skill coordination and timings. I shudder to think what would happen if I play sPvP or WvW.
As with others before me, I hope a solution to this problem comes soon.
Bryndle Slycere, Bryl Slycere, Flytes Slycere,
Shyde Slycere – Northern Shiverpeaks
In Singapore, also noticed the skill cast delay n random spikes in both wvw / pve after the recent patch. Called isp, ran tests n everything was normal. Youtube / Apple Tv all streaming fine. Already a little disappointed with the lack of reward in wvw collecting badges n hitting doors over n over, just hope this lag issue can be resolved soon.
Am thinking if it affects SEA, could it be that one of the “hops” made to anet server is down (even though diff ctry in sea, eventually will be on same ones when nearing US)
Wow , so i’m not the only one experiencing this… Am in Singapore, mine has all the above mentioned plus random dc during wvw. It has always been smooth pings past few months with occasion lag but recently after patch, once i engage in combat my toon and enemy seems to be displaced all over (felt like during stress test beta).
It scares me since Anet responses above have all been “pls check your isp”, it sounds like this problem is something out of their radar
it’s getting frustrating that I can’t play the game that I paid for, grrrrrrrrrr..
I just finished reformatting my pc in hopes that the delay would be gone, changed my internet cable lines, bypassed my router, contacted my ISP (PLDT here in the Phils.)..but still, I get packet loss.. *sigh
I’m from Singapore as well, and have been experiencing the same thing as the majority of posters above. The lack of official reply or a quick response is quite disheartening.
Please do something ! the WvW lag is terrible !!!!!
CAN ANET DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLEASE. LAG SO HORRIBLE CAN’T PLAY AT ALL.
Anet pls do something about latency in the game thank you so much. i am not expecting this kind of service since i have paid for this game
Playing in Korea here, on NA server.
I am also getting this 1~3 second consistent lag for a few days now. Everything else on internet working fine too. I’ve been playing gw2 for many months now, but this never happened, not this consistently at least. I always had some latency(about 0.2 seconds), but for the most part the game has been very much playable. Right now, not so much.
This is really, really frustrating, and any helpful response from anet would be very appreciated.
