Lag & dc (after patch)
Same with me. My problem started even before the patch drop. It was so far, ok before the patch, I still got dc and ran into 4k pings , but I can still play.
Today I logged in play a bit, dc, logged back in, play somemore, dc again and again and again…I can’t keep a stable connections.
Why on the other hand, just to test my connection, I play Marvel Online 2016, and it was smooth…….with no lags and stuff.
Even watching Youtube was ok at 720p………
So, I don’t think it’s my connection problem……
It’s most definitely a connection problem. You guys need to run “pingplotter” and that will show you where the problem is. The reason “other” things work fine is the servers are in different locations, which mean your connection takes a different path to them.
Dear All,
After the patch, I suffered from frequent lag and multiple disconnections from the server. This is very frustrating and heart-breaking.
I’m a player from Malaysia and tested with other online mmo(s) / games. However, I don’t have any connection issue with those games. By the way, teamspeak is smooth as usual (even though I don’t have mic).
I would love to continue support the game and hopefully one day I might be able to play with my children in future (well… I’m still single but who knows one day it may become true?). It just that the connection issue really breaks me … a lot. I don’t know about other players, maybe they will take break and come back later? As for me, the question is how am I supposed to support the game that I love if I can’t even play the game?
It has yet reaches my limit; at least not today but if I decided to stop playing then which mean I’m done with this game. Consider I’m insane as I’ll going to make sure there’s nothing left for me to come back (regardless of donating mats / gold to guild, trash all items / gears, delete all toons, etc). Maybe is because of a thin line between love and hate (is my problem anyway).
Kindly look into this matter and seek for a resolution urgently. Any form action to resolve the problem will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

are you on Streamyx or UniFi? i hear TIME connection is ok, but then you need to have access to that, and the coverage area is very limited.
yea it is sad because sometimes they say is ISP problem, then when we complain to ISP nothing happens because we are only 1/4/8Mbps subscriber and the network is so oversaturated we only have private IP.
then again, have not encountered such terrible DC with other games so i wonder if it is also our ISP to NCSoft server routing problem. if Anet cannot fix this for affected players then i guess we have very few options: VPN, change ISP, quit the game.
but as you know TmNet is the major ISP monopoly here. so yea it has been unplayable again since the latest patch. always Error 7:11:3:191:101. i just log out.

I am on Streamyx. And no, I don’t have connection issues with other online games nor I have any issues with any other website. I usually play GW2 together with youtube playing on my second monitor. And I still get 275 ping avg….
But problems usually appear near a patch and when patching and after patching……then the connection stabilise after a week or so. The cycle is the same. Every patch every living story since last year. During Halloween patch, on the first day, I can hardly play due to ping 4k+…….it got better after a week…
Regardless of what your ISP tells you, they control the routing of you connection to where ever and what ever you connect to. Anet pays for a connection to their ISP and that is the end of what they are responsible for.

Regardless of how much you are defending ANET, I can understand what you are saying.
Because I have said it already, I have NO PROBLEMS when it comes to connecting to GW2 after a patch had landed after the whole hoohaa has died down. Usually after 1 week or so.
My case has been like this for the past several patch.
A few days before a patch, connection starts lagging. 1k ping spikes.
On patch day, connection goes to hell. 1k ping spikes to 4k……best was during Lunar New Year patch, I only get some 500 to 1k pings….worst is Halloween. 4k+ pings.
After a few days after the patch landed, connections starts to get better.
Don’t tell me this is my ISP fault. When I can connect to everything on the internet including pron that is blocked in my country because I am using google’s DNS. Only GW2 is having problems. Not in this patch, but the past several patches. Can you explain why everything it happens around patch week? And not every time?
I run Fractals daily. T4. If I have 1k ping everyday, I would get kick every time I enter Fractals.
because of this problem from patches, I usually don’t enter Fractals during patch week. Because it’s pointless. And also I run the LW maps for the achievements.
After a week or so after patch week, my connections go back to normal.
Tell me that is my ISP fault. That it happens EVERY patch since middle of last year……. Come tell me my ISP who is the worst ISP in the world’s fault when it can give me stable connection daily most of time when events in the new living world or festivals have died down. I was happily running Fractals daily a week before this patch landed. The connection issue started about a week ago. I already know a patch is coming soon before the patch announcement. Because it’s the same everytime near a patch. Connection lags.

I am not trying to defend anyone, that’s just how it works. I am just trying to point you and others who are having connection problems in the right direction. When you are having the issues, run pingplotter, this will tell you where the problem is. If you are dead set on this being Anet’s problem then I’m sorry but no one here can help you. You will need to submit a support ticket through the “Support” tab on the top of the page. The are thousands and thousands of players in this game, do you think Anet is responsible for each and every persons connection? They are only responsible for their connection to the internet. If there is something wrong with their connection it would affect every single player not just some.
It may not necessarily be your ISP. During Halloween, there were quite a few people from Europe and also the US who were experiencing this issue, and not just Asia / Australia. Also during other times, this issue occurred across the board. A couple times last year, a lot of people in my guild across the globe, had serious issues maintaining a stable connection. Guild events were cancelled for a week or so until it all stabilized.
Opinions vary from the fault being caused by the User’s ISP to Anet’s ISP. The only advice I can suggest is simply to move on to another game if you can’t get a stable connection to GW2. That’s what I do anyway.
well it’s a shame because we really like the game and have been playing for a long time and this DC problem is only so glaring lately. i’ve seen similar reports from players in my country with Streamyx ISP. i guess most will just move on to other games since it is unplayable out of the box. we have no choice of ISPs here either due to the monopoly.
i hope Anet can look into the route of affected ISPs to their NCsoft servers, and maybe setup an alternate server route. because other multiplayers games don’t DC like this.

I am a player from Australia, I do have the similar issue, after the patch, my ping is much higher than before, but I don’t have DC problem yet.
I have many friends from Oceania ( Australia , New Zealand) and Southeast Asia (Singapore , Malaysia). Many of us are having the same problem , disconnection every 5 to 10 minutes making the game unplayable. This has been going on for days and none of us can enjoy the new content.
I really doubt that this is an ISP problem since so many places are affected . If this was US/EU , Anet would get to the bottom of this right away. I don’t think they care much about Oceania and Asia.
Same, I’m having this error:
Build: 72274
Error Code: 42:1000:7006:1231
Playing from Shanghai, the only way I’ve managed to solve this is through a VPN connecting into the western U.S.
Otherwise pingplotter showed my connection going up to Beijing, then over to London, hitting huge packet loss between Beijing & London and then huge packet loss between London and Dallas before it got into Austin.

Ok. Fine. I will go tell my ISP about the problem.
However, as you have seen in this thread and the other thread, many have similar problems so, I am not the only one with the issue.

Same problem here from about 3 days before patch.
I’m in Sydney and normally my ping is around 200-250 which is fine, but since a few days before patch my ping has been between 300-1000 just doing normal stuff and trying to do world bosses like Tequatl or Shatterer is impossible as it spikes to just over 4000ping which means my skills don’t respond in time and theres stuff happening around me I can not see. It is definately not an ISP or connection issue as my internet for everything other than Guild Wars is fine and theres too many of us complaining about the same problem for it to be a coincidence

Yeah, I’ve been having more lag lately too. Enough where I’ve decided to post in the forums. It’s more choppy, it goes from smooth and playable to pretty much a walking sim, back to playable. Not sure, what’s happening since I don’t have issues with other games. Not that I can tell. Right before posting this the game even crashed two times almost back to back. GW2 hardly ever crashes for me. I sent the error reports.
I am also from Malaysia, also using Streamyx as my area do not have other choices. Since last week also experience lags and dc time to time, and strange issues like error connect to login server, where you cannot chat and use skills until it get dc.
From the pingplotter when it is happening, there are packet losses from the international nodes, from gtt.net, level3.net as photo below. Even though i emailed ISP, not really hope much as the ISP TM service suck big time.
If you really want to continue playing, you can try subscribe to Pingzapper (was using WTFAST when it is free long ago), they have 7 days trials you can try. I have been using it few months ago, where it is the same problem which Streamyx was route via Telia, strange that the default tunnel mode from pingzapper also causes lags and dc this time, but reduce much after i switched to “firewall mode” in the game profile.
I started to use Pingzapper to make my ping nice again, actually it works, now my ping always is the same and i have less than 100ms. The problem is that i can not connect to the TP windows and it shows me this error code: 10:1014:10:483:101
Now i can play without ping but i cant sell or buy anything in the TP
nvm i changed my server in pingzapper and now it works but its still sad that i have to use a “ping program” to play this game when i have played since 5 month without lag and last 2 weeks i started to have so many spikes…

try change to “firewall mode” for the game profile, it fixed mine same TP problem, right click the GW2 profile in pingzapper > edit, tick “firewall mode”
not really expect in this tunneling, but in firewall mode of pingzapper, it like using VPN, it route all the packets through pingzapper, which GW2 see you as player from pingzapper server, which if you using 2-steps auth, GW2 will ask you for the code to authen the network.

We are trying to alert you guys (ArenaNet) that there’s some connection issue between the player with the server that need to be solve as soon as possible. My point is simple, I will continue support the game provided if i can play or else I will stop and never come back.
I like to do world boss, fractal, raid and event with all my friends (always being carried xD). However, currently what’s left for me to do attempt to complete daily / run around the new map and wait for the game to get disconnected from the server or some random lag.
Again, I would like to emphasize that I do not have connection issue with other online games but GW2 (irony this is the game I like the most).

Did you read any of the reply’s to your original post? Did you run pingplotter and determine where the problem is? Other games and websites are located in different locations which means your connection takes a different route. That’s why other things work fine. As you stated the problem lies between your ISP and Anet, they (Anet) is not responsible for your connection or any of the nodes in between. Your ISP has a contract with all those nodes in the middle, the only way to get it fixed is to have your ISP reroute your connection or have them contact the owner of the node where the problem is.

Im from Slovakia and had the same issue, sudden lag spikes and occasional dcs. For me it has started with lunar new year festival and the game has been unplayable… I ran pingplotter and have seen that the packet losses are caused by a node at Germany. I have tried the pingzapper with firewall mode on and it has solved the problem for me. It hasnt worked without the firewall mode on tou.
Thanks Foxof for your advice My ping is back down to 50 on average and i can play the game again.

good to hear, happy gw2ing
for post starter, as i aware the Streamyx today route via Telia again today, packet losses seem gone for now, still Telia also not recommend for MMO tho:

yea seems to be okay for now (For Streamyx). so we have to thank our ISP for that?
what other MMOs route through Telia? i’ve never DCed so badly in other games.
