This stuff started happening to me too since the initial SAB patch. Others on Mumble were complaining about skill lag in sPvP, then when I went to WvW later that night, I experienced it for the first time too. It wasn’t just skill lag either. You’d go to attack a Dolyak, used the sword leap skill on warrior and would leap to somewhere else… because apparently that’s really where the dolyak was.

Then whilst playing SAB, the game won’t recognise where I’m truly at or I’ll suddenly take random damage in zone 3.. which I guess is damage from earlier, finally ticking on me.

I’ve also witnessed the Melandru event timer take a while to complete.

You guys can say it’s all on our end, but it’s a bit curious that suddenly lots of people are having problems from around the world since a recent update… ones that didn’t have problems before. I know what bad fps lag is like and this isn’kitten

14 234 ms 234 ms 234 ms guildwars.com [64.25.35.116]

Per my tracert.

My packets are being sent from my ISP to Seattle in WA, Denver in CO, Dallas in TX where it eventually is sent to LA where ANET’s servers are located.

I’d better be getting frequent flyer miles for this.

I know I’m not the only European who plays on a NA server, I have quite a few friends on there I play with but only now in the last week or so have I been getting random blips of lag.

Lag-spikes that hit randomly resulting in NPCs not responding, applications like vendors and trading post not opening or loading. In most cases I keep getting skill delay lag.
Today I was unable to participate in small events with at the least half a dozen players present. When I try to use skills; the buttons light up but the character does nothing, anything up to 5- 10 seconds later it responds; movement however is not affected in any way just skills making it difficult to interact with any battle or event.

I have reset my modem many times, have checked ping and speed and there are no issues I can make out, I hate to echo what others have said but up until the last patch with the Adventure Box I’ve had no latency issues with playing.

I’ve gotten word that a number of my friends in the states are now experiencing packet loss due to Level 3’s routing.

True the lag is unbelievable bad. I tryed to do guild missions but the lag on rush and bounty was just unbearable is some what around slide show and a blue ray move on a terrible CPU. There must be a solution for this, i know people that have stopped playing because of the lag. If this is impossible to fix make guild wars 3 with better optimization and a better engine. ill gladly play 60bucks

It’s abundantly clear that Arenanet doesn’t give two kittens about it’s player base any more. The first 3 pages of the tech-support threads are full of lag issues, and not once has an Anet representative given us an assurance that they are aware or even acknowledge that there is an issue.

I can’t play WvW at all with my guild, along with many others from my guild who are having the same issues. Coming from a T1 server we take WvW very seriously, and if I can’t WvW I don’t do anything. If I don’t do anything in game, I don’t spend $$$ in-game.

The longer you take to get this kitten sorted out the longer we will remember how long it took you.

Apparently there is no issue.

Last night it seemed to improve for me, there was still lag but it wasn’t crippling (sadly, the minute ANet support asks me to run diagnostics the situation improves). Has anyone found that it deteriorates the longer you play?

Either way, support asked me to use Ping Plotter to troubleshoot the issue. So maybe have this available for the support team if you intend to make a ticket.

1. Please download and install the standard version of Ping Plotter from the direct link below:

http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

Note: There is a trial period for the Standard version but you will not be obligated to make a purchase

2. Run the program, and in the upper left corner, you will see an “Address to Trace” section.
3. Next, log into Guild Wars 2 and type in /IP in the chat box. Doing so will display the IP address of the server you are currently connected to. Put that IP address into the “Address to Trace” section in Ping Plotter. Make sure you leave off the :0 at the end or the test will not be able to be run correctly.
4. Click “Trace” and allow the tool to run for at least 30 minutes while playing Guild Wars 2 and preferably during the timeframe you experience this issue. Also, please keep the trace running for a minimum of 30 minutes even if you get disconnected from the server.
5. Once you have run the trace for at least 30 minutes, click on “Stop” then “File” → then “Save Sample Set” and save the file to your computer.

I would really think twice about uploading your tracerts (and ping plots) to forums.

Someone on reddit found a PDF of a presentation from GDC 2013, slide 46 of that covers one of the causes of lag and a host of other issues. It may be that the servers are exceeding thier memory limits. Here is a link to the presentation: http://above-the-garage.com/blogstuff/Clarke-Willson_Stephen_Guild_Wars_2.pdf

Long story short, I am now looking for a server update.

I would really like to hear from ANet about this latest rash of lag. Attached is my Network Diagnostics log.

First thing I’m seeing is that your ISP’s routing through Level3 to connect to Guild Wars 2’s servers.

You’re not alone on this. The Level 3 routing has been pretty bad for us despite pings being nominal. Packet loss is just horrible.

What really sucks is that my wife’s computer plays the game normally. Here is a copy of the Network Diagnostics test from her system. Note that we share an internet connection. I am not sure why she has no lag and I am almost paralized by it.

How are both of you connected to the internet? Do you have any port forwarding turned on? Wireless/Wired?
