Lag issues since last patch
There is probably nothing for Anet to fix. Everybody claims its not my internet connection. When you are having the lag issues run Ping Plotter, its free. That will show you where the problem is. It may not be your ISP or Anet, it may be one of the many nodes in between. If it is then you will still need to contact your ISP and ask them to help you get it fixed. If the issue was Anet related then it would affect every single play, just not a handful of random people.
Thanks for making it clear for me! And sorry for the unnecessary post then I’ll try that Ping Plotter out
It wasn’t an unnecessary post if you are having issues. You have a game you want to play and have issues. If it helps you, it makes it all that much more necessary. Post the results if you can’t figure out what it tells you.
I too have been experiencing big problems since last patch. Skill lags and rubberbanding in wvw yesterday on the borderlands were so bad, I could not play the game. This was particularly evident when more people, both friendlies and enemies were in the vicinity.. and engage in a fight? forget it.
I use a vpn as I play from Australia, it shows no issues on my end. Even so, I cycled my router and rebooted the whole thing anyway, and it made no difference.
Ingame ping shows very different reading to my vpn. Regular readings in excess of 1.5 secs, sometimes 3.9 secs.
I thought perhaps it might be due to upcoming changes to borderlands, as other people playing from europe have reported similar issues, intermittently, over the past week.
Thank you for the ping plotter tip.
It shows nothing but red from my router outbound.
This is what is causing huge lag spikes and frequent disconnects.
Hey again! I tried to use the pingplotter and I got some pretty good results. Nothing seemed wrong with my internet connection, so I dont really get why I get such a high ping and low fps rates while playing…
Post the picture so we can tell you where the problem is.
Same for me, the game got unplayable when there are zergs around in wvw. This never was an issue before last patch. Oh well.

I’m not home atm, but I will try to post my results here when I get home
yea its definitely anets problem considering there are multiple posts on the same subject and i’ve been playing gw2 for years and never once has my ping been jumping to 1200 like it has these past few weeks.

Regardless you need proof. See my link a couple posts up.
I posted my pingplotter in that thread that showed 80% packet loss from Anet servers.

Sorry I missed your post. That isn’t Anet. Your packet loss gets carried down from the first hop it’s lost at. The hop you have issues with is farther up on the list. Where it first starts is generally the issue node.
It’s probably the level3 Los Angeles hop. I mean in Aus you expect to have bad ping. Mine is usually 205 – 210. When it goes to the LA hop it goes from 165 (standard fare at this point) up to 336.
It seems like level3 causes issues for many people. Is there nothing that can be done besides trying out a VPN?
