I’ve just started going through my personal story and have entered the Straits of Devastation. I’m getting near constant lag spikes, both in the open world and during instanced areas when I’m based in this map.

And it’s ONLY this map…. Well out of the ones I’ve explored so far.

I’m currently playing, tabbed out as I type this. I’m running around Lions Arch during Dragons Bash with everything on High/Ultra Graphics, I have an average FPS of 30/35 and instant skill responses.

As soon as I port to the Straits of Devastation I start rubber banding all over the place, having to wait 2/3 seconds for skill activation. I lowered my Graphics to the worst of the worst (my god the game looks terrible in low graphics) and am currently watching my FPS dart from 86 -> 88 -> 86 -> 89.

Still, skill activation is taking about 3 seconds?

I have just ported back to Lions Arch – Perfect game play as per usual?

I have just done two additional tests:

My home Server is Desolation. I decided to guest on another server – Same problems.

I also entered Malchor’s leap for the first time – Thought I’d given a comparison of an area near the Straits, Malchor’s Leap has resolved to perfect game play.

During the monthly events (especially when they start), border zones (ones not frequented by lots of players) are often reported as being “laggy” areas. While I have no facts to back my assumption up, I think ANet is directing resources (network bandwidth, servers, etc.) away from these “least used” areas, to improve performance in more frequented areas like main cities (especially LA), city adjacent zones, and more populated end game zones.
