Hey anet, i have been lagging really badly since the patch came up, my skills will take 2-3 seconds to actually activate making this game unplayable, i have done everything i can on my side to try and fix it, (resetting my router,Pc and Game) and still i have the lag, is there anything you could fix to stop it?

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow

Your not the only one that has noticed it, I’m starting to lag when I never did (not as often and when I do it was hardly noticeable) . Playing World vs World is now next to impossible with the lag, try and run away from a zerg only to be rubber banded back into the middle of it not once but two or three times…

I’ve been experiencing heavy lag since the patch as well (though it may have also been a couple days prior, I didn’t play at the start of the week due to finals). I’ve tried several fixes for it to determine that the lag is not on my end. I’ve tried running the game on port 80, basic fixes like resetting router and netsh winsock, and disabling windows 7 nagle packeting (Leatrix fix).

I just ran my gw2 client with the -diag tag, and after the “Tracing Network Paths” section took 190 seconds to complete, this node caught my eye:

17 —- 25/ 25 =100% 14/ 25 = 56% 206-127-157-86.plaync.com [206.127.157.86]

100% packet loss is quite enjoyable. If anyone has any other ideas for fixes on my end, I’d love to hear and try them. I’d appreciate being capable of playing the game. Here’s the whole tracert:

Open your Guild Wars 2 shortcut properties, and after the end quotations of the target line, include a -diag, like so:

I am also getting a MAJOR fps drop to the point of the game being unplayable…it started with wintersday patch…I usually get virtually no lag and 40fps (even in WvW zergs)…TODAY I am getting drops to 5-10 fps even in Queensdale with noone around!

Doesn’t seem to be ISP lag though (I am at 8-9MBps)…

Yeah the lag I get it like talking to a NPC takes like a minute or two for the screen to pop up. Some times when you activate a skill its takes just as long for anything to happen and by that time your probably dead but don’t know it yet. After restarting the client three or four times it comes right. I use BattlePing and even that has trouble with the lag and it works flawlessly nine of of ten times. When I lag its usually doesn’t matter whether I’m using BattlePing or not as I usually shut it down just to rule it out..

I have been getting some crazy lag lately (last 3-4 days?)

Sometimes it seems to be functional, others it gives me a 2-5 second delay (usually not a complete disconnect though)

Seems to have been worse in sPvP and WvW than usual at any rate. Quite annoying.

That just means the protocol is blocked. 100% loss would mean you would never be able to connect.

Look at all the hops before ANET/NCSOFT. They are in 20-40% range.

I’m definitely having the exact same issue.

I submitted a ticket and attached all the required documentation including the text file of the diagnostic.

Maybe I’m just frustrated from not being able to play — but it seems like they’re trying to see if it’s an issue on my end, which it cannot possibly be.

Everything played perfectly fine before the patch, now after the patch it doesn’t. Nothing. Else. Changed. — not to mention none of the other online games I play have been having any latency or lag issues either.

Again — I may just be venting out of frustration of not being able to play the game I paid money for :-/

I’m also experiencing excessive lag in GW2—and only Guild Wars 2—since the Wintersday update. I’ve notice some areas are better or worse than others, Queensdale running typically well, Lion’s Arch being in the middle, PvP areas being pretty bad in general, Malchor’s Leap being the absolute worst (constantly rubberbanding and DCing there but I can perform just fine when I go to the Cursed Shores).

I don’t fight that much and never around big groups so I haven’t noticed the combat lag but I certainly have had a lot of disconnections and rubberbanding. Tried to play couple of hours ago, mainly to sort my inventory in Rata Sum, and constantly being sent back to character select, and even wasn’t able to log in at one point.

This dc-fest has been going on for last couple of days at least (I have played a lot during these). Maybe more, I can’t really remember and I might not have been playing that much.

Very frustrating. :/

Not everyone is seeing lag. Therefore its hard to pinpoint the exact issue. I recommend running the game adviser and attaching the log(specifically the part that uses the “pathping” command). The one user who posted it, is showing massive packet loss going to the servers.

The problem is, this isn’t perfect; as it uses a separate port/protocol than GW2 uses.

Yeah,

This is pretty much what I’ve done.

I submitted a ticket discussing my issues with lag, and attached the diagnostic log. The support team told me I was experiencing relatively heavy packet loss (‘Why else would I contact you…’ went through my head) and then they told me to download a third party “Ping Plotter” application to run while playing Guild Wars 2.

I plan on doing this when I get home — I hope it helps them fix it, because it’s quite literally unplayable.

Sounds like a plan. Pingplotter may help determine what is going on. I’ve seen another thread with a user having issues and awful packet dropping. Generally the game uses ports 80, 443 (standard internet ports; shouldn’t cause issue) and ports 6112, 6600 (unprivilaged ports; which are not “normal” web traffic, but correct thing to do). Maybe something with how packets are being prioritized/routed over those ports. That is just a complete guess.

You can also try using the “/clientport 80” command line argument; that should send all the traffic over 80 and ignore the 6000 level ports.

Ah, interesting — I didn’t know you could specify one port.

I actually already have all of the ports you indicated above marked for port forwarding to my static internal IP address on my router.

Oh well — I’m sure this will get them some more information.

You may have the ports forwarded, but you have to remember, between you and Anet/NCSoft can be any number of hops belonging to different companies. Connection issues can caused anywhere along the way.

Same problems since wintersday 2013,constant daily dis-connect from servers then problems logging back in for like 10 mins, then i get back in,play for 30-60 mins maybe a little more and bam kicked out again……Support say its my provider as I followed all the steps they gave me,I contacted my provider who did various test showing my ping was 15 m/s per ping until 1 point for about 7 pings it hit 300+ m/s ,which i guess is where I lose the packets causing dis-connect,My provider says all providers have this variation, what u guys think? is that really normal? I cannot even play now,no point constantly dis-connecting from dungeons ,wvw, fractals,u name it i dis-connect from it.Before wintersday I was 100% fine, maybe 2 dis-connects in about a year…….
