I’m running GW2 through bootcamp windows 8.1 on my late 2013 15inch MacBook Pro.
On max settings with retina display resolution I get <10 fps in Lions Arch.
I noticed that only 25% of my RAM and 10% of CPU are being used by GW2. Is this normal? If not, are there ways of improving the performance without lowering quality?

Specs:

2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz)
16GB 1600MHz memory
512GB PCIe-based flash storage
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory

Any help is appreciated!!

The processor’s not being utilized. Since you’re running Windows 8.1 through bootcamp, set the power profile to High Performance. And plug in the macbook if it’s not already.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!!
That definitely helped, I’m now up to ~25 fps but I’m still only using ~4.4gb of ram. Are there any other tweaks that can be done to further improve?

Not that I’m aware of. You could try lowering the retina display resolution in the game to something like 1920×1200 or 1440×900 if that retina display goes up to 2880×1800.
I’d also recommend turning shadows and reflections off. I do that with my laptop’s GTX 670MX for a huge boost.

Are you sure you updated your drivers? The difference for me was… insane. It might help if you haven’t.

Or you could run the native GW2 MacOS Client?
Running through Bootcamp will reduce the effectiveness of Windows apps by about 30% on average. its there for a value add to run native windows apps in a windows OS with out virtualization being needed. That comes with a performance cost.

that is why there is a native macOS client. I suggest you try that.

Thanks for the replies!
Drivers are definitely up to date and those settings have given a slight improvement!
There isn’t a setting for 1440×900 ingame.. Is there some way I can add this in?
Not too keen on using the mac version as it is still in beta but 30% is pretty tempting…
