Yes. I know. There is a thread on FPS, but let’s all be honest here, this topic is not going to get the attention it deserves if I post there.

So, after downloading the latest patch, my FPS was basically halved. Now, not just halved on the settings I was using, but when I drop my settings to best performance and take off shadows, I get 24fps.

Unlike yesterday or the day before, when I played and I was getting 28 – 50fps on High Medium graphics, no FXAA, No shadows, No reflection, Shaders and Textures on high.

If I try that today, I get 10fps.

Upon asking around, some people have similar problems.

before anyone with an amazing system comes along through shouting and screaming that they still have 7,000 FPS, please let me inform you that we do not care. Just because the issue is not present for you, does not mean it is a user error or that it isn’t present for others

YES I have the latest nVidia driver. I actually went from 306.0# to 306.79 after I saw the hit my framerate took. No difference was made. This is clearly at ArenaNet’s end and not my system’s end or nVidia’s end.

Basic system info:
GT540M
i5 2.4ghz.
8gb DDR3 Ram.

If you are experiencing similar problems, please reply with some basic system information. (i.e. graphics card, proccessor, ram, etc.)

Again, this is only for people who can actually contribute something to the thread. If you’re FPS has DOUBLED or you’ve noticed an INCREASE, please feel free to post ALONG WITH your system info. Don’t just post nothing.

Similar issue , my framerate dropped to around 49 from 60 (I used framerate limited to 60), it did happen after the patch.

Btw, for your case did you restart your PC after driver update?

Still looking for the possible root cause (e.g. tweaking the ingame setting)
My shadow setting is high → none, same performance, so I switched back to high.

My FPS went bad too after the latest patch. I hope A-net is reading this.

It’s not enough that I should win; others should fail.

Same problem, no response to that from Arena yet. All we can do is wait till they fix the patch

FPS in Guild Wars 2 seems very inconsistant. I see that this game is very CPU intensive.
They should make this game use more GPU dependent rather than CPU dependent.
Hopefully new patches will fix issues with FPS.
I will try tweaking AMD CATALYST CONTROL CENTER and
NVIDIA’S GRAPHIC DRIVERS to see if that does anything helpful.

Here is some CPU’s and GPU’s I have tested with GW2 @ 1680×1050 resolution

— Pentium D @ 3.0ghz, 2gb DDR2 667, 80gb 7200rpm hard drive and
ATI HD3870 on best performance only gets 5-15fps mostly everywhere.

— AMD X2 250 @ 3.1ghz, 4gb DDR2 800, 80gb 7200rpm hard drive and
ATI HD3870 on Balanced Preset gets 35-45fps mostly everywhere.

— AMD X4 945 @3.0ghz, 8gb DDR2800, 2-80gb 10,000rpm hard drive
in Raid 0, ATI HD 3870 on Balanced Preset gets 55-70fps.

— AMD X4 945 @3.0ghz, 8gb DDR2800, 2-80gb 10,000rpm hard drive
in Raid 0, Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 640mb Video Card on
Balanced Preset gets 60-80fps.

— AMD X4 960T@3.8ghz, 16gb DDR3 1600ram, 2-640gb 7200rpm hard drives
in Raid 0, AMD HD 6870 on
Best Appearance gets 80-110fps mostly everywhere.

— AMD FX-8150@4.4ghz, 16gb DDR3 1866ram, 2-90gb SSD’s in Raid 0,
ATI HD 5870 on Best Appearance gets 50-80 fps

My system is the FX-8150 which I am finding out may not be the greatest CPU
for gaming. I am thinking about selling the CPU for a PHENOM X4 965
as the PHENOM 960T blew my mind how much better it handled GW2.
Definitely there are tweaks that still need to be done to the game to
improve FPS even better. Offloading CPU tasks to the GPU may help,
but that is just my guess-timation. I really don’t know what I am
talking about in terms of tweaking.
