Latest patch causes whole system shutdown
Vagrant,
The game does not have the access to the kernel to cause shutdowns like that. Does your Windows event log say anything? Have you updated your drivers recently?

Drivers were updated two weeks ago to the beta version for my NVidia 550 Ti. Currently running the -repair command line argument for the game.
Looking at event log, have 2 critical errors in the kernel-power, consistent with the two shutdowns I experienced today (event ID: 41, task category: 63). Eventlog shows the same dates/times (event ID: 6008)
Last time it occurred was 7/16. This might as well be a record of when my computer has shut down whilst playing Guild Wars.
Basically, that error is stating your computer does not have enough power to run and shuts down.
I would try re-installing the latest (non-beta) drivers for your GPU. Also, are you doing any overclocking?
Here is Microsoft page on this error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504#method3 I would take a look at “Scenario 3: The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listed, or the computer is completely unresponsive (hard hang)”

I have a 1000W Corsair power supply that I have made sure all the connections are good (I’ve checked the connections like 20 times). If it was power, I’d be fairly sure to notice.
I have some overclocking enabled for the CPU using a motherboard switch. However, GW2 isn’t as CPU intensive as some of the other things I play (like Kerbal Space Program), so that shouldn’t be the problem as it never shuts down during those games.

GW2 is extremely CPU intensive in many situations, and certainly more so than Kerbal Space Program.
KSP doesn’t do any real content streaming and can’t use more than 1 CPU core for most of its work due to its old Unity engine and badly integrated physics middleware, while GW2 can at least task 2-3 cores most of the time.
Overclocked CPUs are generally much more stable at light load — you may have noticed that in many top overclocks, only one core was active and it’s considered a bit of an achivement to reach comparable clock speeds with more cores usable.
tota is correct. Try turning off the overclocking and see if that helps.

My computer has shut down 3 times already since this patch…just turn’s off.
I was doing the events in the Jubliee.
Monitoring my CPU and GPU temps now. Nothing is overclocked on my system as I do not know how to do that.
