Launcher Stuck @ 1 File
I should add, I have game launcher allowed through Windows Firewall. And I tried turning my antivirus off with no luck.
Try switching the language to French? I know that sounds weird but that fixed an old bug where the launcher stopped at one file. If it starts up, let it finish then switch back. (Languages are in the top right corner of the launcher where the flags are).

“My client is stuck updating at 99% with one file left. What should I do?
First, locate and delete your local.dat file which can be found in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder.
Next,reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the “1 file remaining” message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the missing file from the backup system. This process usually takes about 10 minutes.
If after 15 minutes or so you find that the above process has not resolved the issue – that is, you’re still stuck at a 99% download – please try this work-around: Change the language setting for the launcher (in the top right corner of your screen) to a different language. At that time, the download should complete. Once that occurs, change the launcher back to your original language and log in to play.”
If that doesn’t work, maybe try a client repair.

Thanks again Astral Projections, I will give this a try.
Ok I give up, no luck so far I’ll try again in a month or so if they decide to fix it.
Really I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to play a game I purchased, it’s even worse that even after jumping through hoops I still can’t play.
I feel the exact same vvizard. It’s a complete nightmare for us having to simply abandon the game because of crap like this.
No mention from ANet other then the aforementioned stating do delete .dat and change language. It seems they don’t have any idea either, and don’t care to fix it.
I also have this problem, I’m scouring the forums looking for an answer and all I see are the same ones, the same links to ANet non working advice.
New and returning players are simply discarded for reasons only God will know.
Don’t bother making a ticket, all mine have gone un answered for infinite amounts of time. Only when you respond with, I NO LONGER NEED HELP, do you get some sort of auto response acknowledging it.

If you have had no response to your Tech Support ticket after 72 hours, you can post your ticket number in the Sticky, ‘Tickets for Review 3 Days and Older’, and you will get a response.
