Launcher crash on downloading patch
Can you post the crash details (accessed via the ‘Show Details’ button)?
I dont see reason to make a new thread so I put my complaint here. Have not played in months, launcher crashes while patching, repair crashes also.

If its related to my HMIP dll, then forget it. Rather keep that program than GW2.
It is. Whatever HMIP is, it’s interfering with the download.
I suspect the other poster’s issue is similar, with something like LavaSoft, or Privacy Tools.
Good luck.
I don’t have either of those two installed. But after trying many times, it succeeded. I just had the same issue with a small patch, but luckily this one succeeded on the third try. Unfortunately I can’t find a crash report or error message when it crashes
New patch, again with the crashes..
Is there any way to force GW2 to make a crash report or some logging or something? Because there is no crash report now, but this is making the game unplayable!
What did the Tech CS Team suggest?
I believe you can find crash reports (if generated) in the Bin folder. (I’m not sure.)
If you haven’t contacted the Tech CS Team yet, you can do so via the ‘Support’ link and ‘Submit a Ticket’.
Good luck.
Yep games crashes on launch for me as well.
UAC enabled.

Thanks, I will contact the Tech CS Team. Also, the crash report that I have, is old and doesn’t get new data added.. So I can’t find an error anywhere..
Old crash report? Each crash generates a new report (if the crash report window is generated); you can click the ‘Show Details’ to see, possibly, what caused the crash.
No crash log, just that the GW2 client has stopped working and to close.
I do use master effects, and I don’t have time to take that out of the folder right now but I can tell you that if that injector is incompatible I will just not play the game.

I know, but I am unfortunately also not seeing a crash report window, just the windows message saying the Game Client has stopped working. Else I could have seen which dll is creating the problem and deinstalled that program..

I am having the same problem as well. I am not sure if its relevant but I was in the clock tower when I got kicked out to download the update.
For anyone else that is experiencing this issue, I got a response on the support ticket. Unfortunately I can’t test this solution at the moment, because after trying like a hundred times, I was able to download the patch without crashing. I will try this myself, the next time I run into this issue again, probably again on next patch.
The possible solution that was provided for me:
Thanks for contacting the Guild Wars 2 Support Team.
The symptoms you’re reporting are often caused by a connection problem somewhere between your computer and the server you’re trying to download from. I’d like you to try forcing your game launcher to connect to a different server by doing the following:
Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2.
Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
Right-click the shortcut and select “Properties.”
In the “Target” line, put whatever is currently there inside quotation marks, then add -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80 at the end.
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80”
Click “Ok” to save your changes. If you get an error, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try Step 4 again.
Make sure Guild Wars 2 is not running.
Use the new shortcut to launch Guild Wars 2.
If that doesn’t work, try replacing the IP address above with one of the following:
194.25.94.170:80
62.154.232.187:80
151.249.90.199:80
93.188.135.37:80
Let me know if you need any help following these steps, or if this doesn’t fix things for you.
None of the IP addresses did anything
Still cant play. When I get time I might delete my injector and see if that is the issue. I have read that others have a dx9.dll error which is what the injector alters.
Again I will reiterate though that if I cannot use the injector I will just not play at all. I hate GW2’s muddy graphics

A fix though ! Enabling Custom 3D support in Riva tuner did the trick

HMIP might be HideMyIP. My launcher kept crashing so I uninstalled the HideMyIP and it works now.
