Q:
Launcher does complete download after crash
If the data is corrupted its useless and has to be redownloaded I am afraid, although a trick I know that sometimes works is Windows roll-backs to a time when before GW2 got corrupted, (if you have restore points) not sure if it works with Guild Wars 2 though, aside from that you can’t really do much other than wait for it.
Hi Spooky, thanks for your reply.
I don’t think a windows rollback will help, because it just rollsback installations, windows system files etc. afaik.
Since GW2 thinks, there is something corrupt in this one large file called gw2.dat, and restore points doesn’t affect those files, this won’t unfortunately not help.
But the idea is not too bad, because I frequently do full backups of my ssd drive, where GW2 is installed on.
Possibly I will try to restore a whole backup. Or even better: Get an older uncorrupted version of gw2.dat and replace the corrupted one. Then patch.
Man this is really annoying… in my opinion, it’s impossible, that the whole game archive gets corrupted. The log files say, there are just some files/parts in the archive corrupted. I think the launcher is not working as intended here. Bad work, arenanet!
My advice for you all: Backup your perfectly working gw2.dat file! Just for the worst case!

Hello, Dookie!
Would you mind attaching all of the corrupt-*.dat files here? I’d like to take a closer look.
This happened to me tonight. Although I did not look closely at the pop up screen saying it was checking some archive. It looks like it’s going to redownload everything. It has 114,000+ files to go, and it’s half way done with it already downloaded 7+ GB. It should be done in a hour or two. Still annoying.
