Q:
A couple of days ago I was playing without a problem at all. However, the next day I tried to get on and the launcher just comes up and freezes before it can download the patch. I assumed the problem was my firewall or anti-virus interfering with the servers. But that was not the case. I went online and found many others with the same problem. I have probably tried about 20 different things trying to fix this problem and no luck what so ever. I’m sure the GW2 support team is working on it but, has anyone found a way to get around this problem?
I would suggest your run a repair function on the GW2 launcher. Its entirely possible you have a defecting file causing a lockup/freeze.

Yes, This does sound like it may be the problem but how do I repair the files?
Right click the games shortcut and chose “properties”. In the “target” window add
-repair
save and close. Now activate the shortcut and it will run a repair command on the game files.
