Lemme get this straight...
If I would have known paying 10€ less for the key I wouldn’t have messed with it to begin with. Sigh I guess this is my punishment ^^
A different question though. Did anyone get contacted by the support yet? I’m really curious about how long you had to wait for an answer.
I just hope this gets solved quickly and I’m happy that I learned my lesson lol..
Currently suspended because of fraud but really hoping my account gets unbanned. I already bought an official key but still got suspended afterwards I guess it’s just automated.
I submitted my first ticket last Friday, then got a response around midnight (my time) which was about 6 or 7 hours after ticket creation.
Now I’ve been waiting for a reply eversince.
Still not sure if Support is even still looking at my ticket.
I mean, what Support Department would start answering a ticket and then leave it unanswered for 4 days? You’d expect that IF they reply, they’ll keep helping you until your issue is resolved.
Yeah that’s kind of weird. I don’t REALLY mind waiting that long as long as I’ll eventually get unbanned but it just hurts so much not being able to play even the base game when I’m having a problem with the expansion.
I got an answer 2 days after sending my ticket but that was a different matter now today is my 3rd day waiting and I didn’t get anything. I’m just so impacient lol.
Hi everyone,
Reason:
I decided to create this topic to express my personal opinion on the system after I just got into this "nice" problem. I bought my HoT key from kinguin(I know I know, grey market, shady stuff etc) and yesterday while playing I was suddenly hit by suspension(ban)hammer and DC'ed. no reason given just an error while trying to log back in. I sent a support ticket asking what I did wrong(a ticket to which there still is no response). Alas when I checked my account on gw2.com a hour later I noticed I don't have HoT anymore and that I am able to buy it. Then I understood. I contacted Kinguin and they offered a refund, problem solved there in less than 1 hour. Meanwhile my support ticket for gw2 is still not replied to,waiting, banned(how the hell should I know the key was problematic?).
My proposed solution:
Don’t instaban players(some who might not even realise this) but use GM’s to contact them explaining the situation, helping them resolve the problem. The key can be deactivated from the account but at least innocent ones will be spared the ban hammer and forced to wait for a long while. Alas if the player doesn’t give a proper reason/proof to the GM that he didn’t obtain the key fraudulently then banhim. And yes stores like kinguin might have problematic keys with their sellers but they are still in the legal market. There is no authorized store in my country to buy gw2 but they are legal local stores(some even country-wide markets with many more points) and they do sell the game. What if that key is also “fraudulent?” How can the consumer know?I honestly propose a revised support system, also live support like blizzard have(kitten their support team is quite nice).
What do the rest of you think of this?
In the ten years since I first played Guild Wars, then onto Guild War2 three years ago I’ve never once looked anywhere other than a retail outlet for a hard copy (cd and box) for any game I’ve ever purchased) Game, Gamestation etc, and for me, living in England, supermarkets like Asda or Tesco
Now I do understand that in some countries around our beautiful planet, it is hard, if not impossible to buy a hard copy of a game, or even access a website for digital downloads, but do links like this one not work for you?
Just like you said, you stepped into a “grey area” to purchase your code, and for that you paid a price. (ban, not the actual cash handed over) the only way the consumer can know if the code is legitimate is to buy it from the people who created it, not a dodgy 2nd, or even 3rd hand website.
Before you ask I haven’t visited it to have a look to see how legitimate mr kingdude is. In ten years I’ve never looked at an in game gold seller or code selling site, EVER for any game I played. (well just look at me and all of my ex-guild mates on our high horses)
Honestly, you won’t get much sympathy from the forum, I think every reply (if anyone does reply other than me) will all be pretty much the same: you went round the back of the supermarket to buy your shopping, expect to get ripped off while there, and then probably banned from the store when they find out that you was really buying stolen goods while round the back.
No, that’s not the way things work. If you are in possession of an item that was originally illegally obtained then a company has no obligation to play nice with you. For all they know your account was taken over by a gold seller or other type of scammer and the illegal key added. Illegal items get confiscated or deactivated. That’s the way things work. You get to then work with support about fixing the problem, but they are going to close down fraudulent keys first.
ANet may give it to you.
Anet has no way to know if you stole key you self or if you buy bad key and did not know it bad. They have to protect their product first and let you then prove you innocent. Not their fault you buy a bad key so effort to fix this problem belong to person that buy the bad key. If I buy car from some person in a dark street and police catch me and say stolen they take away car and I have to prove I did not know stolen to not go to prison. The police will not say here are some cuddle and hug why we figure out if you did or did not steal car. In that example I even do not get car back. At least with Anet you can get core game back when show you innocent.

I actually just received a reply 30 minutes ago.
Now waiting how long it’s gonna take for them to reply back… back to the waitingline
If you go to a retailer that isn’t listed as authorized or whatever by Arenanet, in search of a ‘’too good to be true’’ bargain, then the risk is also yours.
I’d much, much rather pay Arenanet’s price with no chance of having to deal with bullkitten as described in this thread, then save that little bit of money and ultimately get screwed because it was indeed too good to be true.
In the end, if you do get screwed like that, Anet has zero responsibility for it, other then off course making sure you -can- still play core game, they are not obligated to rectify your bad choice and essentially give you HoT for free, from Anet’s perspective anyway.

that is why I said contacting the user first. So far of all games or systems I had problem with ANet’s support is worst. Worse than steam. My suggestion wasn’t to have mercy or stuff like that but have a better support system. Waiting 24h for the first reply, etc etc. While Kinguin is called a greymarket the store does function legally and wasn’t banned in any country whatsoever. And as rich said, okay a gold seller hacked your account etc and your account gets banned. That stuff happened to me in WoW. Blizzard banned the account but immediately contacted me by email, was announced and asked to contact them over live support(which seems to be too futuristic for ANet). I had to have a problem like this to notice that the support system is bad. even tho I had a reply from them it asked me for data if I purchased the game from them to have proof. Which was pretty Irrelevant since the base game was a hard-copy bought from the supermarket.
I got my account suspended this tuesday because I had bought an HOT key on g2Play. I didn’t know that it was un-authorized and whatnot, but it’s all fixed now and I got my account back.
But, I have a question. Will I lose all of my progression that I did in Heart of Thorns, or will it all come back once I get the expansion again.

So lemme get this straight. I buy the game for 30 bucks on kinguin, redeem the code, play heart of thorns for a day, then it kicks me off of it? I can’t play heart of thorns anymore even though I have it, bought legitimately, with real money. Why in all of the nine hells do I not have it anymore. I even have a fricken revenant in my character creation screen for christs sake! If that’s not proof enough that I had HoT then idk what is. Support making a feeble attempt at telling me kinguin’s code was wrong even though it worked for an entire day. What do you, the community think? Did I get jipped? Because it seems like I did and not by kinguin, but by arenanet.
Buys the game from a non-authorized, shady third-party retailer.
Complains that things didn’t work out properly.Hahaha, Oh wow. What an idiot.
Though I’m curious. If you were planning to actually buy Heart of Thorns, why not purchase it here, in the official website, directly from ArenaNet? Just what in the kitten were you thinking?
You don’t have to be a jerk about it, the guy I bought it from, I knew him but he wanted at least some money for it, we don’t live very close so he put it on kinguin for me to buy it. Not an idiot, I just don’t like to read. I doubt you’re any better >_>. Anyway, the price is a rip off because I already bought the core game a long time ago with the full 40 bucks. Ridiculous. So if I can get it cheaper I will.

It stays, for some reason. I have a revenant and I can still play him and stuff, he isn’t unplayable so I assume the HoT content is already in-game, you just have to unlock it. Sorta like destiny.

You are most fortunate that your whole account is not terminated, as purchasing any part of the game from another person is against the ToS. You might consider reading it, sometime, to avoid future disappointments.
Good luck.

The reason, among others, the CS Team doesn’t ‘send out emails’ is that often the email accounts associated with game accounts are compromised. It does no good to contact usurpers and would be a waste of time. The email, even if they were sent, would only urge the account owner to contact the CS Team, and the message given when trying to log into the game does that nicely. No need to worry if the email never arrived, went to the wrong person, etc.
If you mean telephone support as ‘live’, they tried that and it wasn’t effective.
Good luck.

well the live system Blizz have. On their website. Instant support. as for email confirmation ask for photo or scan of owner ID. I find that system perfect!
Perhaps, when ArenaNet is as large as Blizzard, they will implement something similar. Until then, everyone must work within the system offered.
Good luck.
