Limiting factors / what to upgrade first?

a 3570k would be much better since you overclock it. i think your mobo is compatible with it but i recommend to get a z77 for max efficiency. i’m not an expert at this so just wait until someone with higher knowledge confirms this or gives you a better option.
If possible, I’d like to not overclock and to change the least possible amount of parts of my computer to keep the budget as low as possible. But thanks for your advice so far, I’ll keep it in mind

then go with the 3570. however, if you would like to upgrade your gpu soon and play at high/ultra settings. the 3570 would not be able to keep a stable 30 fps in massive WvW battles. What is your budget? it would help if we knew what your budget is.
TBH . With the latest culling changes, unless u have culling active, u wont get 30+FPS in WvW no matter what system u get.
Even my system (in sig) can drop below 20FPS in big Zergs if all settings are on max (i.e no culling what so ever).
However, u can keep ~30 in massive zergs if u set texture culling to low/very low. This will keep players visable but with the lowest texture settings ( all green for ‘very low’, or all but those near you green for ‘low’ ).
That is, if u have the CPU to manage it, that would requir a 3770k With OC. A 3570k with OC would be good but will max out the threads as it only has 4, so u wil see better performance with a 3770k.
You may not like theidea of overclocking but for GW2 wvw its a neccessity if u want better FPS.

Ur GPU is OK, the Gtx460 is one of the best cards ever created, even being Old it will run the game flawlesslly at 1080p or lower resolutions, upgrading the card won’t give u any performance imporvment so i don’t recomend upgrading ur card at least untill 700 series are out. The CPU is your main problem, u have a h61 chipset so overclocking is not gonna happen on that motherboard, the 3570 is indeed your best current choice.
The 1150 is a dead sockect meaning it won’t recive further upgrade support, the 1150 socket will be out in june, if u want to buy a new motherboard i recomend u to wait for the 1150 mobos and get the new i5 4570k or whatever is called. Your i3 will hold a couple of months still, just save the money so u can buy a decent mobo 150$ is a decent spot when u aim for max performance per dollar on intell mobos, is where u should be aiming.
