If steam native games, BF3 and GW2 ran on linux , Id honestly never run windows.
I wouldn’t hold my breath but still +1 for the post.

I highly doubt that a Linux client is coming anytime soon (I’m not saying never) due to the high amount of issues with the two current clients.

I propose ANet stops working on all the silly FPS optimizations, content debugging and fixing roughly bazillion problems with the game and dedicates at least 70% of its staff to creating a Linux client, because that has higher priority.
Then we could have Linux forum with Linux problems, which would be overall much better than to just have a Mac forum with Mac problems.

Well, you’ve got people who, like me, hate Apple, so won’t use Mac.
Then, you’ve got people who use Linux because it’s free, and people who use Linux because it’s quicker, smoother, and nicer than Windows overall.

I’d be all for games moving to Linux, personally.

I’d love a linux client, but my experience with transgaming & cider ports is that usually once the game works in wine it works better than the wrapper does.
I’d rather they wait, and do true native ports to both platforms, as there’d be a lot of shared work on the renderer. But there’s no hurry on that, the engine has a lot of other serious issues that need sorting out before inflicting it on more unsuspecting customers.

Or there’s the sickening camera & control issues. *View yo-yos while sticking to a random rock and watching character walk away.*

I’m pretty sure the Linux community will come up with a way for the Mac client to work on Linux sooner or later, right now GW2 in wine is a bit flakey. Otherwise I’d stick to Linux if it weren’t for the games I play in Windows. Years ago I used to play Half-Life, RTCW, Quake games, Planetside, SWG, City of Heroes, CoD, etc. in Linux.
