I recently upgraded my system from a AMD A8-5600k, 8GB RAM, GTX960. I got about 20-30frames.

For Christmas I bought myself:
Asus Z170-A motherboard
Intel i7 6700K 4.0GHz processor
EVGA GTX 1070 8GB SC
16GB DDR4 RAM
Rosewill 750W PSU

Now I pretty much stay at 10fps, there are slight fluctuations between 8-13. For the most part I stay at 10fps regardless of what I do to the graphic settings.

These are the things I have done:

Flashed BIOs
Overclocked
Turned off Overclock
Checked my drivers
Ran as Admin
Compatibility mode
Turned off Hyperthreading
Turned off 2 cores, leaving the bare minimum of 2 cores active
“Unparked my CPU cores”(Still dont understand what that is but whatever, used the program everyone reccomends)

I am now slam out of ideas, willing to try anything at this point. It is also fair to mention I can run The Division at 60, Overwatch at 60, and other A-list games at 60 all on Ultra+ settings. I have this issue was well with PlanetSide 2 so I am hoping that it is a related issue.

Download GPU-Z if you don’t have it already.

Fire up GPU-Z and then GW2, keep an eye on your Bus Interface link speeds. the far right should read x16 3.0 or something is wrong with the connection between your GPU and motherboard.

Seeing as it’s happening on PS2 I’m leaning towards this being the culprit.

It’s been quite common over the years.

Remove Local.dat located in “C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2”.

After that repair your client with the commandline parameter /repair added to your gw2 shortcut, dont touch your pc in the meanwhile it crashes easily.

Make sure your graphics card is in the x16 slot (usually closest to the CPU).

That should not be the issue if he runs other games at a solid fps though.

It can be an issue. Many time’s I’ve seen reports just like this, with other Triple A games running fine. Plus the games it mentioned are all fairly light on resources. Division is pretty highly instanced with most interactions pre-scripted. Overwatch just isn’t heavy on GPUs at all with its low resolution textures, flat shaders and basic animations.

Do you use Windows 10? There’s been many complaints of the Xbox app’s game bar causing trouble. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Fix-For-Big-FPS-Drop-MS-Win-10-Update/6358498

I don’t have a login or whatever, nor do I have an Xbox so I used the final option (powershell) to remove it altogether.

That was one of the first things I did when I got my new comp and have no issues with Guild Wars 2, and I have worse specs (i5-6500, 8 gb ram, 1060.)

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
