at 46% it jumped from 260 mb to 330 mb at 46% heh

Remember that the percentage completed is based on the amount of files you have downloaded compared to the amount you have to download. The progress will reset when you restart launcher. The file size cannot be determined by percentage. It is only an indication.
Also some files are huge.. no doubt the graphics from the fractals heh

Bad download speed is bad, 100mb broadband downloading at 80kb/sec, i should be able to log in by next November.

I just restarted everything after having the same issue, I just let it run as well and it eventually started just fine. Don’t worry guys, it’s prolly cause everyone is trying to get’er’dun at the same time. :P

so its only spvp stuff in this update? No class changes yet?

Patching now, dunno about everyone else, but similar to some other guy on a earlier page it happened to me after running a windows update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830/en-us) <- seems unrelated tho.

With all due respect to these posters, do they really think that it was a complete coincidence that the logins server went down just before the new patch was released? Obviously the two are related, and to my mind it’s poor planning that either Anet didn’t know this was the effect it would have, or they just neglected to tell us. Yes it’s only a game, no it’s not the end of the world but c’mon surely they’ve done this enough times to do better?

Using my 50 MBit bandwidth, I’m finally downloading at a steady 5-12 KB/sec LOL!

Come on guys, stop trying to log in to the servers at the same time you bunch of recluse no-life rejects! Go to sleep!!!

That way I can finally download this thing-a-ma-jig and continue being a proper hermit, glued to the screen drinking coffee after coffee and relentlessly mashing buttons1-9 throughout the rest of the night. After which I’ll then go to work in the morning with bloodshot slits for eyes and giant purple rings under ‘em as if I’d gotten socked in the face twice!

I would think that just about every single owner (at least 99% anyway)of the game is trying to update all at the same time as well as the play with a friend free trial. Something that anybody in IT with a just a bit of foresight could anticipate. Everything is slow including thr forums.
Suggestion to Anet—plan and prepare for such a major deployment before the hit.
At 50% after a 10minute wait. Perhaps a waiting to access queque due to demand message would more appropriate instead of connection error, retrying.

I thought it was my computer being dumb, so I’m actually relieved to see I’m not the only one having issues. Lol. I was getting a decent download, then I got a connection error, and now I can’t connect to the download client at all.

Still downloading the patch little slow which is probably due to the server load. Though the number one thing that I have loved about ANET is that they will tackle the problem immediately and resolve the problem. Unlike other’s that will say we are experiencing technical problem it will be 4 hours before it is resolved.

Yeah! STAY IN LOGIN and (hopefully) it will start the DL – mine just did and is chugging away with 8,656 file remaining.

Mine fluctuates between 80KB and 1.5MB/s @ 54% and 347MB downloaded. Just so glad that we going to get back in tonight. I remeber WOW patches for like half a day server down so i’m much happier with this experience.

I’m not sure if they could have predicted a huge peak in logins, I don’t work there. But I was refering to the people really complaining about the lack of input from Anet, only it was 5 minutes after the first incident.

67%. Very unusual and unstable download connection speed but it’s something! I’m gonna slap the skritt out of the guy on my server who said that there won’t be any downtime. :P

People are getting much higher downloaded then me, I’m at 61% with 216MB downloaded, 1600 files remaining! Goooo

Hi, i have the same problem here, but mine is still a bit complicated… i have this configuration:

- modem ADSL with wi-fi b/g 54Mbps (192.168.1.1)

- Router Cisco with wi-fi a/b/g/n 450Mbps (192.168.0.254)

i play GW2 with my workstation in wireless and until 5 days ago all worked fine, in the last 5 days if i connect to the Cisco the launcher show me this error, if i connect directly to the modem through wi-fi it works…on the router all settings are the same, i didn’t touch it rom a month…so…what can be the problem? playing with 54Mbps sucks.

the game work now, but it looks like ive got rollback -lost near 30min or so of game progress -nothing special tho…

Seems other players have experienced a rollback too. I just got logged back in and I see I’ve gone from 1075 to 915 achievement points! I’ve been over the 1000 mark for the last 3 or 4 days???

i see that my post is merged here, but this isn’t my problem, i’ve already downloaded all and i can play, my problem is that guildwars wont connect to my 200€ router from 5 days ago…i think that is because is a sub-router instead of the main modem, because now im connected with the main and i’m playng. Anyone has notice of connection rules changelog? something changed on the login app?

Great, 4 hours in Arah for nothing. Lost my tokens and my achievement and I’m not sure what else.

I have the same problem – I connect form NZ to US game servers – but it doesn’t even get to the login. Im glad Im not alone. In various other places in the forums there are others also.
