I am gaming on a laptop right now and it just isn’t cutting it. I have to play gw2 on lowish settings and have to set to max 30 fps or the game gets random fps drops (even with vsync). Anyways i’m looking for a decent desktop computer for gaming gw2 on high settings and other games as well. My maximum budget is $1000 but cheaper is better (as long as it has the specs). Hope you guys can help, thanks.

Are you looking for a Prebuild PC or do you know how to build one from parts? Also monitor too?

V card is a little weak and the CPU might be hard to overclock

Prebuilt would be best since i have next to no knowledge on how to build a pc. I could try if it is REALLY worth it though. And yeah including a monitor

You could look on ibuypower.com and play around with their customization to see what you like. I have never ordered from them before but they get 4/5 of most of their newegg ratings. Definitely go for the FX-6300 or FX-8350 because they will give you the best bang for you dollar.

It’s a great website to see how you specs will hold up against popular games.
I would not go below a 650 GTX or whatever ATI’s equivalent is.

Your first one is better than this – and cheaper.

If this link is leading to the correct place I see a FX-4100 and ATI 7750 that costs $859.

I’m no expert but I’ve been researching and just upgraded my system to play GW2. And this is not good enough. (And I’m not sure of that first one because of the 7770 video card – I would go higher).

Look around these forums, there are a number of peoples suggestions that helped me.

Basically from what I’ve researched if you’re not going to overclock (and it sounds like you’re not) you want at least a Intel i5 3570 for the processor.

I got a i53570K at stock speeds and an NVidia 560Ti recently and get anywhere from 60FPS to 90FPS in PvE. In WvW big fights it drops to 25 or so but from what I’ve read so does everyone elses. This is running near max.

You can build urself a good high quality Intel 3570k rig, or even a 3770k rig depending on the GPU choice.

IMO you would do much better building it urself.

Buying prebuilt for ur budget u will be limiting urself to ‘mainly’ AMD rigs, which are by no means bad, they just r not as good as a intel rig for GW2 and other CPU intensive games.

Asuming u have a keyboard, mouse, Optical Drive, HDD,and a OS. This would be a good choice for a self built rig.

Im not to knowledgable about what a good price/perf monitor is atm so i left some room for one in the budget.

I don’t think that iBUYPOWER at NewEgg is a bad rig. Has a lot going for it. Only “weak” part is the HD 7770 but that’s only relative to much more powerful GPUs out there.

zerk’s is really nice but is hugging your max price.

As solar said your not only going to save yourself money by building it yourself but you will get high end components usually.
I good idea if your squeamish about self building is to get a barebones system and put the parts that you feel comfortable with in yourself.
Depending on your area there should be many companies that offer barebones systems.

I’ve always told people that it’s not about saving money. That’s tough to do with the Microsoft tax. It’s about being selective with parts. Quite often store built rigs (I’m talking at BestBuy and the like) tend to short change you on PSUs making it tough to add a decent video card but will throw in an absurd amount of memory or enormous hard drive.

Places like iBUYPOWER and CyberPowerPC is a happy medium if you are terrified handling a $200 part the size of a Triscuit or have the fine motor skills of a two year old. Just research the parts they have available. Start with a configuration closest to what you are looking for and configure away. And don’t forget the OS (aka the Microsoft Tax).

Didn’t check the links, but
a) you don’t want an AMD CPU (for GW2).
b) if you don’t want to overclock manually, you don’t need a K model.
c) if b) is true and it’s available, you can also get a Xeon E3-1230V2 or E3-1240V2, which works in any normal socket 1155 board and is cheaper than an i7 and doesn’t come with an IGP you don’t need.

The problem with that PC is they use the absolute cheapest parts they can buy like the Apex power supply, motherboard, and memory, SATA II HDD. That PC only has 2 reviews look at the reviews on thier other models.
The one I listed from cyberpower I selected only quality parts and yes you will need to overclock the processor to have good WVW FPS.
You never said if you need everything including OS, speakers, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
