Hey so I’ve been playing guild on my macbook pro since release and i just cannot take the low framerate/low texture i have to live with. I am looking to build a new rig on pcpartpicker, but honestly i have no idea what I am getting into. My friend builds em so he can help with that but honestly was wondering if anyone had a suggestions for a build less than 900. no need for os.

Intel i5 (Fastest you can afford)
At least 4gig ram (8 if you can afford)
AMD 7850

Rest doesnt really matter so much. I suppose the question is 900 what?

Yeah should be fine. You might want to add in an aftermarket cpu cooler if you are planning on overclocking. I assume you have a mouse handy.

Wait for Haswell. The performance increase isn’t enormous, but we’re literally talking about <2 weeks for the next generation of Intel CPUs. Buying now is silly. I also agree with Qazwersder that an aftermarket cooler for overclocking would be worth it. A Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is a great budget cooler (~$35).

My thoughts on your build: I’m not sure I’d go with that power supply, I haven’t heard great things about OCZ PSUs. Consider this one instead (also ~$10 cheaper):

I’d probably go for a 650Ti Boost 2GB over the 7850 for a bit less, or the 660 for a bit more (although game bundles could be a factor depending on what you’re interested in).
650Ti Boost:

660:

Finally, I haven’t looked at monitors closely in some time so take my recommendation here with a grain of salt, but I’d try to find a 1920×1080 that fits your budget if you can. Your build will have the power for 1080 gaming (in most games), so it’s worth getting the monitor to make use of it. This one seems to have decent reviews on newegg:

Okay so without haswell (which after looking it up I will most likely wait for) here is my final build

I actually just realized that PSU isn’t compatible with Haswell due to low power consumption in sleep states. Here’s a couple of alternatives that would be OK with Haswell.
Seasonic M12II:

Corsair TX650 (currently on sale @ newegg, grab it now):

Other than that things look fairly good to me, just swap the CPU and motherboard to haswell components. You could consider switching to a case with front USB3 ports (Corsair 200R is a cheap option) but the HAF 912 is generally a good choice.

Wait wait wait wait. First of all there is always some problems with the first iteration of new CPU and motherboard chipset. I would still stick with the Ivy Bridge/Z7x motherboards. Then there are some questions about power supplies and the new minimum power requirements from the Haswell. Remember, being on the leading edge always comes at a price. I would wait at least 30 days after the new CPU and motherboards pop up on NewEgg to see how things shake out.

The 700 series from nVidia looks to be simply a rebadge of the 600 series at faster clocks. Is that honestly worth a wait? Plus it’s the top end cards that always come first. Right now you have a GTX 660 picked out. I would be surprised to see it’s replacement anytime soon.

We are heroes. This is what we do!
