Lost Dusk
I am sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, Customer Support can not replace items lost through user-error. It is always prudent to check each item before you salvage or destroy it, sell or give away.
Much luck on your continuing adventures in Tyria.
You are, of course, welcome to discuss your situation with Customer Support, but the policy is as stated.
@Kervv, that sucks man. I think GW2 should give you back the sword. You have the proof in chat where you linked the item. That should be sufficient proof it was in your inventory. Can you link items if they are not in your inventory?
Yes, you can link any item in the game, whether you possess it or not. Many 3rd party databases have the chat codes, so it isn’t difficult to link anything in chat. Even items that are not yet released in the game, if someone has datamined the codes.
There is also a warning window that pops up when you attempt to salvage an exotic. If you salvaged dusk you must have clicked yes to the ‘are you sure’ prompt.
Sorry there is nothing support can do in this case, take better care in the future.

Thanks Inculpatus cedo, I don’t know how to link items other than what’s in my inventory. I have no idea what a chat code is.
If it helps, don’t compact your bags. Put items you want to keep in the lower bag slots to avoid salvaging things you want to keep.
if you paste this in game you will get the link for dusk: [&AgEBcgAA]
copy that and paste with ctrl+v in game, make sure you copy the brackets as well.

Well Anet would know whether or not they actually possessed the item, they have plenty of code/logs they can use to find out if someone is trying to fool them. So if you contact them I’m sure they will send you a response either way, but if you neglected to look at the confirm box and it was user error you most likely won’t get another.
Even if someone wanted to fool gamers/forums, they wouldn’t fool anet so easily.

.
That is what I do as well as using an invisible bag so I can’t accidently sell an item.
Solution to your problems:
1) Put valuable items away in Bank
People need to stop posting threads like this, when the answer has been given over and over. Anet does not replace items salvaged/sold/deleted due to player mistakes.
i asked support and they are saying that i didnt removed, destroyed or salvaged it????
this means that it supposed to be still on my character but i checked everything:
bank, trading post, all my characters bags. buy back merchant. even the crafting consumable thing. its not there. so it disapeared. if its not destroyed or salvaged or removed then the only reason i see is that there was a bug or something?
I am not sure how long merchants keep a list of what you have sold. I thought it was only until you left their presence, or maybe just a few minutes. Also, with a patch between the time of the incident and now, they may not be able to see what happened at the particular time of loss. There are not snapshots for every 5 minutes of play.
Either way, I would assume they have not the wherewithal to replace it? Bummer.
i checked the merchant buyback after i saw it was gone
Doesn’t the log show everything you get, including trash? You should ask if they have a log of you ever having it since they have logs of you never losing it.
In terms of getting the item back, I don’t think it matters if there was a bug or if it was manually deleted by the op (even by accident). I’ve never heard of them restoring items unless an account was stolen, and even in that case it’s an entire rollback.
