Low FPS in LA
Have you upgraded to Windows 8.1 yet if not do so double check all drivers are up to date. Unfortunately it may just be windows 8 and your hardware there are tons of gaming issues in Windows8 mainly in driver compatibility. Windows8 at this time is not stable enough for gaming and Anet is not supporting it.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Its just LA. All have lags in city, relax.

Yes, I am running Windows 8.1. All the drivers are up to date, including the bios.
My biggest issue with this is that I am able to run much more graphically demanding games like BF4 multiplayer at 80+FPS and barely achieving 30FPS in a GW2 zerg. Another issue is that I’m getting very similar performance to a PC I built over 5 years ago. I mean, you would think that an i7 4770K 3.5GHz 12GB RAM and a 770GTX and a solid state drive would perform better than an i7 920 2.66GHz 6GB RAM and a 660GTX 5400RPM HD but apparently they do not. At least not in GW2.

Different game engines. FPS game engines have been designed over multiple generations to be as efficient as possible even on poor (re: console) hardware.
This is a home grown engine and simply isn’t as tuned as the latest generation UE3/4 or Frostbite engine.

Welcome to GW2, this is what u can expect.
Doesnt matter how much u spend on ur rig, in certain palces in GW2 u will get crpa FPS. LA (city), WvW, large Dynamic events. will all have crappy FPS.

I just updated to a new computer…. GTX 760 3gb and an i5, I’m getting 30-50 fps in Lion’s Arch (Was getting 20 and below previously though, but that was on the Mac Beta). Elsewhere I get 120-180.
Maybe you need to fine tune your graphics card?
different servers different FPS in LA…
If anything, turn reflectin to Terrian and Sky, that should give u and additional 5-10 fps in LA.
I never recommend ppl to have reflection on all no matter the system they run. Even i dont run with reflection on ‘All’ its just so badley implimented considering it renders reflections underground/under the map.

I hope that this game gets AMD Mantle support … then FPS in LA would be on i7 like 60+
Why not?

I get 9~ fps in LA by the mystic forge on max settings -_-
My specs:
AMD FX 4100
GTX 760 OC
8GB DDR3 RAM
550W PSU
1TB 7200 RPM HDD
The game just seems to be poorly optimized….

Maybe you shouldn’t run on max settings then? Just a thought.
Not all of the game’s graphic settings affect only the GPU, a number of them impact the CPU side of the equation as well.

By default my graphical settings are on max, I just bought the gtx 760 a few days ago and it runs fine on other games, gw2 seems to be sucky though.
It’s because your CPU is rather weak.

Yes, it’s fine in other PVE zones, just not LA by the mystic forge area or some parts of Wvw (like Stonemist castle)
But even then if I upgraded it a lot of people complain of lag still even with i5’s and i7’s, so it’s turning me off into even considering upgrading.
There is no CPU GPU combination that will run this game at max setting and get max fps it’s just not passable at this time. The best you can hope for is a balance between eye candy and fps. There are a number of factor that effect fps the main one is the CPU this game is highly CPU dependent, the GPU is not that important mid range GPUs will work as good as the high end one. The CPU matters most in this game, an intel i5 or better is the best choice for this game. This game does not do well on AMD CPUs. The amount of memory has a great deal to do with performance, the game will run on 4gigs but 8gig or more is best. Also the OS plays into this to, at this time the OS of choice is Window7 64bit. If your are running the 32bit version you have a memory limit of 3.5Gigs no matter how much ram is install in your system. Windows8 has issues with gaming so stay clear and if you have it installed it is highly recommended to go back to Windows7 overclocking is a crapshoot some have gotten a performance increase, others have had issues. Apps and programs running in the background can take a big hit on performance especially on lower memory systems. This game can make your system run harder than it has ever so Keeping you system cool is a priority. Make sure you have good airflow threw out your system, keeping your cooling path clean and free from dust and lint. Check this like every other month is a good idea you will be surprised how fast it will build up. Also make sure that any of the vents are not blocked by outside obstructions or your PC is not in a confined space like some computer desks have a cubby hole for the PC this space may be to confining and not give you good airflow. GuildWars 2 is an awesome game but getting the best performance may take a little work for some but trust me it will be worth it.

Eh, I personally think that the reported large zerg performance for a pretty highly clocked i5 is reasonable enough, given what’s going on. And it’s much better in ‘normal’ high load areas, like LA.
I’ve actually been thinking about getting a Xeon E3-1230 V2 (more or less a 3.7 GHz 3770), since it’d be a pretty solid boost in large group situations. It’s all really what sort of performance you’d like and what your dollar is worth, though.
