Just installed the game apparently after the last update there have been complaints on several gw2 forums about frame rate drop.

So far I haven’t heard any official arena net response on this problem.

I followed your official total absolute complete useless tweaks wasting my time and energy.

I read other forums so far no solution only users posting their opinionated time wasting tweaks.

No matter what resolution I run from the lowest to my highest 1680/1050 with everything on low I get 15 to 20fps, disturbing my eyes, brain and breathing.

I guess I will have to play MoP until this bug is fixed?

Never had frame such low frame rates with this system:
Win 7
Q8200
4RAM
GTS250 – yes updated

I EXPECT A BUG FIX FAST

yes it does suck, at this time I just play on 1080p Res, and Lowest settings. I play it for the game, the graphics is great If I switch too high, but I’d rather be able too play it how I want – nice and smooth – rather than jumpy when in wvw or large scale combats

You know what you listed for computer specs is completely useless. To put it in car terms you basically said you have an engine and power windows.

If you provided proper spec break down (CPUID for example) then I could assist with the issue.

First thing to note….GTS 250 is NOT an “amazing” card to begin with. Video cards hide behind memory numbers but thats just the tip of the performance.

Dude that card is just fine to run kitten at medium settings or else I would have upgraded and as a said and your obviously incapable of reading you just had the necessary feeling to post your useless time wasting irrelevant opinion.

IT’S OBVIOUSLY NOT A CARD ISSUE, the CPU is getting overloaded I WILL REPEAT IN CAPS SO PERHAPS THIS TIME YOU WILL READ IT!

I RUN THE GAME AT THE LOWEST RESOLUTION AND SETTINGS AND IT STILL GIVES 15FPS.

Now use your mentally handicapped brain and try to reason using logic, THERE SHOULD BE FPS INCREASE after doing this.

Now go on and waste other people wiriting down your useless opinion.

Hate to be that guy, but his list gave you all the information you need.

The problem here, as it is with most of us, is the CPU is the bottleneck in basically all MMOs. Every time I up the OC on my Q6600, my framerate increases slightly.

In some cases the bottleneck is a problem with the motherboard simply not being able to keep up with the hardware installed in it, but in general a low FPS that barely changes, or doesn’t change at all when you drop your graphics setting means your CPU is choking things.

A q8200 is stock at 2.33 ghz. It has better overall performance in properly multithreaded applications than my Q6600 @ 2.4 ghz stock, but the slightly lower clock speed seems to be the problem here. With my Q6600, I sit around 25 fps at its stock clock speed. This would be inline enough with his results given my slightly higher clocks and differences in hardware that I would consider it within the margin of error.

PC is VERY low end OP. Do you really expect to run a brand new MMO perfectly with 5yr old hardware? C’mon now…

I do so just fine. /shrug.

Yeah it chugs a bit when I get 50 people on screen and am trying to watch netflix at the same time, but with my OC at over 3 ghz, it generally does just fine.

A 3Ghz overclocked quad is far from a Stock 2.33Ghz quad like Op’s. Not sure why you are comparing here..

What I am comparing is that he has a much better processor than I do, and is probably running lower settings for graphics.

His CPU can run 3.0 ghz all day long, should he choose to do so.
His cpu is better than mine in literally every single way except for the clock speed.

That mabye true, but not many people can/know how to or even care to overclock. A lot of factors are involved with overclocking, not just run it at 3ghz done…

Actually with any decent motherboard it takes about 5 seconds to do. And the Q series has always been notoriously good at taking huge overclocks. My 6600 was up to 4.1 ghz on air. I would be running it that high now, but the fan on my cooler kicked the bucket months ago. I have been running it on purely passive cooling since, even with the OC.

Temps never go above 140F. Yes that is a bit high, at 60C if you are used to that measurement, but that is under 75-90% load on all four cores.

At any rate, if he has basically any aftermarket motherboard, he can do it in short order. Don’t even need to play the balancing act of performance vs stability and start messing with voltages, just bump it up a little bit.

Just to update things for the sake of information, when running at 2.4 ghz I was getting 25-30 fps. Bumped that up to 3.0 ghz and am sitting pretty comfortably at 40 fps in the same area, a difference of about 10 minutes so the population in the area has not changed much.

Turning my sound quality down got me up to 45. Now, sitting in a little town area with only 2 other players in around I am sitting at 55, which was totally unheard of before.

I think I am going to start shopping for a new CPU cooler so I can bring my cpu back up to 3.8-4 ghz like I used to run.

I have a GTX285.
Before I had a E8500 @4.05GHz.
FPS 20-30, maybe 40 in quiet places.
WvW at 5-15 FPS

I swapped the E8500 for a i5-2500k@4.3GHz (mobo too)
FPS locked at 60 everywhere, except in WvW it’s now 30-60 depending on how huge the battle is. Actually in the biggest battles my GPU is only running at 60% load (90-100% load in medium sized battles), because the i5@4.3ghz is the bottleneck.. It seems GW2 can max 1-2 cores, but I never get full load on core 3-4

The game is clearly CPU bound and you need a i5/i7 at 4GHz + to unleash the full power of your GPU in WvW (if you have a decent GPU)

As for the GTS250, which is about half the speed of an GTX285 should be able to play pretty decent with a slight adjustment on graphics settings.

i think the kitten is censoring. If you write as then the number five, it says kitten instead of " ‘as’ ´5´" which could be a persons behind.
Same with Core i7-2600 with a “k” which could be goo and the letter..
So i7kitten is actually a i7-2600 with unlocked multiplier.

I guess some funny forum mod found out that this was a funny censor, which actually kinda makes some debates look stupid

Back on track – I also have the E8500 @3.25Ghz (old mob will not allow OC lol)
Hd6970 2gb – FPS 15-35 in town / outside pve alone 40-120 massive diff after changing my GPU from an old 9600GT 512mb . Is it CPU bound? Yes & No imo- all mmo;s are cpu bound to an extent as GW2 is a brand new game with 100’s running around so its gonna have a lot of stress on it but no doubt about it changing GPU has made the game 100x better while questing . My gf has upgraded from GTX280 to a HD6870 and the diff is massive like night /day . Personally im getting a new i5 cpu next month prob i5 3450 3.1Ghz maybe 3570k if money allows. I know from talking to guidlies this will make a big diff though the E8500 is still a v good processor more than capable. Check Toms Hardware they did a recent review of GW2 and the type of processors they used. They also do a cpu/gpu hierarchy chart just google it to show how good yours is. The Q8200 is an older cpu and way down the list now-GTS250 is also an older card check the listing. The FPS you ve posted look about right tbh and for a rig such as yours i really dont see the problem
