Low fps issue
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (I know I am supposed to use 32-bit with less than 4GB of RAM)
There is no such rule, more ram would be better, but you won’t get the 2GB virtual address crash atleast.
Your cpu indeed is part of the problem, though you could probably get a decent overclock on that Q6600
I know that, but my main problem is the motherboard which is just a piece of useless garbage, it doesn’t support 4gb of ram and my 3GB DDR2 are running at astonishingly low frequency(approx. 266MHz) instead of the normal 667 or 800 that should be running. I have tried just a small oc on the cpu (only 0.1GHz) to test and the system doesn’t even boot. I risk my cpu frying because of this motherboard.
;) 266 is actually the io rate, your ram is running at PC2-4200(533Mhz) when the double data rate is applied
i won’t disagree with your view of the mainboard though. I have long thought of VIA as barely a step up from SiS.
I didn’t know that :O
And about the upgrade I am making, do you think it is a good decision?
Thank you for your replies
I would go for a Z77 motherboard instead of B75 since you’re going for a 3570k that is designed for overclockers.

I did look at Z77 but since I am on a budget of 350eur, I had to go for the B75 because it was at a discounted price for a limited time, I was able to get it for 84eur instead of 127eur.
If you were going for the B75 to save money, a regular non K version of the 3570 would have saved you a tiny bit more money. B75 won’t be able to take advantage of the unlock multiplier in the 3570k for overclocking. IMO, its worth overclocking and usually needed in GW2 if you play heavy WvW.

On the store I ordered the 3570k, the difference between 3570k and the regular 3570 was 204 eur vs 212eur so I thought, might as well go for the 3570k

You’ll still need to overclock it to 4.5 GHz.
you don’t need to overclock that far at all…..
I’m using a 6850 and an i7-920, which is within firing distance of a current-gen i5.
Haven’t had any framerate issues in any part of the game with everything on High, as long as I leave Native rendering set.
There’s no reason to overclock.
If u get a 3570K, u really should OC it, ,thats what the k version is designed for.
Do push ur budget and get a Z77, its worth it.
If u were going purely on CPU performance in GW2, then to stay above 30fps in massive WvW battles u would need a 4.5ghz OC. This would mean u would need a good CPU cooler like the Coolermaster 212 Evo or Noctua NH-D14..the later would get to 4.5ghz, the former ..might strugle.
If u can stretch to a Z77 board and the 3570K but not get a good cooler, then thats fine ..run it at stock till u can aford it, a simple stock $15 cooler should be OK till u can afford to get a OC worthy one.

I just got GW2 and i was wondering with my current pc specs how well can i run GW2?
I Have:
AMD FX-6100 six-core processor
3.3ghz
HIS HD Radeon 7950 3gb gfx card
8gb ram
windows 7 64-bit operating system
Just wanted to know how this will cope with GW2 thanks.
Tiny:
Your GPU is fine and you will likely be able to RUN with high settings.. Though i advice you kep reflection to terrain And Sky as its kinda bugged on All ..the perofrmanceh it is MASSIVE.
Your CPU though will hold it back alot, likely droping below 30 fps in LA and deffiantly dropping below 30 FPS in WvW battles.

I most likely wont be doing to much WVW at all so will it be okay for like normal roaming around? and im putting it up to 3.7ghz dont know how much of a difference it will make but at the moment my pc CPU:25 degress Mainboard:35 degrees RPM:3883
So will i be able to clcok it up some more with these settings and put it up to 3.7ghz or 3.6ghz without it dying?
And will doing this increase the performance in any way?
Those temps look odd.
Use 3rd party programs like CoreTemp and CPUID to get temperatures and CPU information include clock speed, voltage etc. AIDA64 can do both but its not free unless u ‘acquire’ it
When you OC its best to do it manually than use motherboard presets as those presets always pump out more voltage than required thus increasing heat. Not to mention they can be unstable. Just make sure ur cooling is atleast half good.

I have CPUID already but i dont want to overclck because i dont have watercooling or anything but i dont know if the extra .4ghz will make a difference but i hope it will but ill probably install some more fans before doing so.
