Q:
Hi all,
I’m hoping you can help. Since the last 3 updates my PC has been running progressively slower and the game is now unplayable even on the lowest settings. The FPS sit between 1-12FPS no matter the settings (screenshot attached). Other games run with no issues and I have also updated to the latest display drivers.
I am running the following:
Intel i5-3550 @3.3GHz (Ivy-Bridge)
Gigabyte AMD Radeon 6870 w/ DDR5
16GB DDR3 @1600MHz
Seagate 500GB 7200RPM (I use this as my boot drive because my 2TB drives would probably have higher seek times)
Again, it was running fine from launch until a few weeks ago.
Thanks!

@tanzante. I read a few posts where they said that AMD CPUs suffer due to to inferior single-thread performance and the game being optimized for Intel. I’m an AMD fan and keeping an AMD graphics card is the least I could do, also great bang-for-buck. I have also logged a ticket with Support and will let you know what I hear.
Intel i5-3570K @3.4GHz
Gigabyte AMD Radeon 6870 w/ DDR5 1GB vram
8GB DDR3 @1600MHz
Seagate 80GB 7200RPM (dont laugh)
I am using old 13.1 (detail version 9.012-121219a-152192C-ATI) Catalyst yet works fine.
Everthing is fine on my end. Steady (capped) 60FPS @High settings.
I’d do some system sweeping at your place. Maybe just delete all unwanted software, do registry cleaning then turn of Page File (also check if your OS didnt set it to some ridicule size) defragment your HDD and set your Page File back. Doing so will eliminate fragmentation/bad sector on HDD as possible cause.
I’d also check your PSU if all the cables are sitting tight in there, i had once (not with HD6870 tho) a particular issue where g-card would run “like it is about to die” despite being brand new -happened to be faulty “extra 6-pin power” cable. Up to that day i was convinced PC wouldnt boot up without that extra power cable attached to GPU.

There was some talk that one of 13.8 beta drivers killed performance in the game, I’m still using the 13.4 drivers and not having a problem. Never install graphic drivers over one another. It’s best to do an uninstall, reboot, driver sweep, install new driver.
