[MAC] Beta Client; Trouble Downloading
UPDATE:
Attempted deletion of the app support folder for GW2. Did not help, though the files remaining now says 8502.
Unless each of these files is several gigabytes/tens to hundreds of megabytes of data, I assume this should not be happening?
So nobody has any ideas? Nobody else has ever encountered this issue before?
Some of the files it is up to could indeed be very large.
Your best bet is to just leave the downloader running for a couple of hours and see how it goes.
Alternatively maybe one of the ports is blocked on your modem/router?
Yep same problem here. Stuck at 25875 files remaining, downloading@200 kbs. Game is playable but extremely laggy as if it’s still downloading something but the file remaining doesn’t change, except in the case OP mentioned with closing and reopening patcher in which file remaining goes down slightly. Saw someone mention elsewhere to a similar problem to change the language on the patcher, not working for me though.
Interesting. Leaving it running definitely does not work. Left it running while I went on my 6 hour shift and no change in files remaining, but 2.3-2.4GB downloaded…. The hell is going on here?!
Changing the language simply closes and restarts the client in the chosen language. Doesn’t help me though. Probably going to just redownload the whole client…..
I moved the GW2.app thing to the trash along w/ the app support folder for guild wars 2 and emptied the trash.
I also used OnyX to clean up my computer.
I am redownloading the client now. 342,443 files remaining.
dies slowly inside
Give me a few days to give you an update XD
My school’s internet was massively upgraded today for some random reason. I went from downloading at 200 KB/s to 5-6MB/s. Downloaded the game fully with no problems. Occasionally it did seem to “hang” when the internet wasn’t upgraded, but I waited until 10-20 MB were downloaded and watched the file number remaining go down.
Reinstalling the game may be the only solution should this happen to you. I don’t know of any others, really. It should be known that reinstalling the game tends to resolve other technical issues. For me, it raised my FPS and made the game more stable than before (not this time, but before when I did this same thing to resolve another issue).
