Q:
[MAC] Can't connect on campus network
I’m having the exact same problem but I’m on a private home network! I just spent my whole day updating and installing HoT just to have the game crash on me every 4-6 minutes.
My problem is pretty much exactly what the title says. I don’t have the ability to mess with ports or anything like that since I’m on campus so the typical methods for fixing this don’t seem to be a solution for me. I’ve seen topics before with just the Windows version that involves creating a “test” shortcut of GW2 with different properties, but since I’m on a Mac I’m not sure what the equivalent process would be to do this.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENS
-Launcher loads and allows me to sign in
-Character select screen loads
-Selecting a character does one of two things…
1. Nothing noticeable happens for a short period of time, then the UI fades away
leaving only the character model in place. Shortly after, the game will crash and
re-open the launcher.
2. The game appears to load into the map, showing the splash screen for whatever
location my character was in. Nothing further happens after this; the game has to
be force quit or occasionally just crashes on its own.In the first option, an error message will pop up only sometimes and then disappears as the game crashes before it can even be read.
Let me know if I can provide any more useful information!
You’ll need to talk to the college IT admin – they are probably blocking the ports that GW2 needs to function.
