Mac Beta Client Config Tweaks Files
ok, so I looked at the GW2 config and the config files here…
The GW2 one defaults to 256 VideoRam … there is no difference in the files between the 256 config file here and the GW2 one.
All that changes in all the files is 2 options under the [x11drv] heading.
“VideoRam” = “512”
“AGPVertexRam” = “256”
My issue is my system has 2 vid cards, I am hoping GW2 is using the 1024 one and going to set accordingly.

Hi guys,
I’m still confused as to what to do if I have the intel integrated HD3000 w/384mb of VRAM (since im on a macbook air and I can’t upgrade my system RAM)
Will this work for me?
Thanks!
Reread the posts on the first page, it’s all explained. Most importantly, it’s explained why this doesn’t actually seem to work.
This is the key refutation to all of the people that say this tweak works:
Okay maybe Transgaming went to the troubles of creating an in-process X11 server that is linked into the wineserver or the cider process. So let’s check with Instruments: nope, none of the threads references anything X11 related.
quoted from Korval.2197.
Instruments is a developer tool that comes with Xcode. You can download Xcode for free from the App store if you have a developer account with apple.
Show us a screen shot of instruments running on your system and it showing a X11 thread running.
So let me get this straight:
I saw an Fps increase from 19 FPS before changing the config file to 33 FPS after changing the config file. If I delete the newer config file and let the game recreate the default config file my framerate drops back down to around 19 FPS.
But because you and Korval don’t see an X11 thread in Instruments it’s automatically impossible?
I think you folks don’t really know what’s going on here.

I’d would try these system tweaks, i really want too. i’m just pretty sure i’ll mess something up.
Mess what up? If it doesn’t work you can dump the whole Guild Wars 2 folder in the trash and the game will build a new one for you.
I don’t know which one to use, or where to copy and paste it.

Hello guys!
Lately you may have seen some config tweaks floating around, and I’ve decided to preconfigure files for different VRAM sizes. With these settings I am getting better performance.
Simply download the config file utilizing your VRAM size, rename it to “config” and overwrite the version found at “/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2”.
The last part i cannot find. and i don’t know which Config to copy and paste :/ I’d really like to turn the LOD distance and shading up and get 30 fps or over, but i can’t. and having the amd radeon 6970 hd m its really lame!

Go to your desktop.
Open the ‘Go’ menu.
Hold Option with the menu open.
Click Library.
Navigate to Application Support.
Navigate to Guild Wars 2.
Place the config file and make sure it’s just ‘config’ and not a .txt

Shading and LOD should not have that much of an impact to force you below 30fps. What are your settings for shadows, sampling and reflections? Neither should be at maximum.
sorry, shadows is what i meant. But sampling and reflections doesn’t seem to make too much diff. And, pardon me let me clarify. I can find the library folder now, and can navigate too the application support folder, but i cannot find guild wars 2 for some reason. and which config file would I even use. I have no idea what the numbers to the right refer too.

And thanks for the help guys, its appreciated.

Thank you for posting the tweak file as I saw in increase of 10+ fps & smoother gameplay. FPS on max setting is close 43+ fps, but usually set things to medium for 65+ fps. Usually play the game in windowed mode.
The default:
“VideoRam” = “128”
“AGPVertexRam” = “64”Increased to:
“VideoRam” = “1024”
“AGPVertexRam” = “512”Using Macbook Po late Oct 2011 with 17’, 8GB mem. HD 3000 & ATI 6770.
I find it very odd that the default was set so low at first. Oh-well, I’m happier now with the change.
I found this file. can i just put that number into the config file itself, for what my Vram is, its 2048 so i’d have to figure out what half of that is. 1024 i guess? because downloading the txt isn’t working for me. Also, very sorry for spamming the crap out of this thread. My sincerest apologies

You can just edit that, yes. Be sure when you save that you have ‘show file extension’ checked and that there’s no .txt in the filename.

I just ended up doing it that way. found Vram and the other corresponding to the txt file on this thread and copied and pasted the number straight across. The file will save when i close it right?

Yep! Again, just make sure it doesn’t have a .txt extension. Should work just fine after that.

would this be making the game, and my computer crash more. Or would just the game itself be doing that? i’m getting worried now.

I don’t see why it would do that.

well, besides the game going nucking futts on me and making my comp crash 3 times and the screen going rainbow twice. I noticed a 5-8 fps increase overrall. it obviously depends on the graphics settings as well. But then i also noticed more options in the graphics settings too for some reason.

actually more like 8-10

More VRAM means more video options since the game recognizes the actual power of your machine, rather than what the cider wrapper was telling it.

For me the “sRGBInPixelShader” = “2” is what made the difference. Anybody know what that line actually does?
I don’t even find that line in my config file?
Like Kioshi, I also cannot find the lines
“VideoRam” = “128”
“AGPVertexRam” = “64”
in my config file. It seems that they have since been removed.
I just found this thread yesterday and for me it still worked like described in the posts before. As I am no expert in this, I can only guess, that either there might be differences between the versions or you should give it another try. Make sure you are in the right “hidden” library directory.
There are 2 /Library folders on a Mac system, one in your user folder, and one that is hidden by default. OP may have linked the wrong one.
Open Finder, click on “Go to” while holding alt/option key. You should see a second /Library folder pop up in the menu. That’s the one.
I feel, like the game got a major buff (besides the current FPS drops).
Yeah but X11 XQuartz is not installed by DEFAULT on 10.8 mountain lion:
I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
MacBook Pro 2014
An icon appeared on my launchpad saying that an APP needs me to install X11
I don’t know if that is the reason why the client doesn’t launch the game since I’ve installed it…I haven’t been able to play since I’ve got my account…and Ive been trying to find something to fix that problem and nothing works…so if installing Quartz/ x11 or whatever might help…then I’ll do it..but i don’t know if that might change something in my computer and make it worse in any way…. please PROS and CONS of installing X11.
