Mac Book Pro Retina 13" Problems
I share my gw2 experience hoping it can help you. I’ve been playing for 20 days and love crowded events and WvWvW. After a bit of experimentation I came up with this set up that allows me to have very playable and constant 30 fps:
Resolution: Windowed – 1280×800 (my native would be 1440×900)
Frame limiter: 30
Animation: Medium
Anti-Aliasing: None
Environment: Low
LOD Distance: Low
Reflections: None
Textures: Medium
Render: Native
Shadows: None
Shaders: Medium
Post-Processing: Low
WvW Ch. Limit: Medium
WvW Ch. Quality: Medium
Everything unchecked
In areas with not much going on I could get 60 fps without frame cap, but then a few people would join in and the fps would be so unstable… what it’s most important for me is to get stable fps for hours (better 30 stable than 50 unstable).
To me windowing is big part of the thing (smaller size = less pixels to calculate.. am I wrong?)
My laptop is a late 2011 MacBookPro, Intel i7 2,4 GHz, 16 GB RAM at 1333 MHz, ADM Radeon HD 6770M, VRAM 1024 MB
It would be nice if other mac client users could share their set up so we can try it out
CF, I posted on the other thread before I saw this one.
I posted in the other thread as well but I’ll paste the important bit here anyway:
It’s your graphics card that is letting you down. It is an Intel integrated card so it’s power is limited.
The one big suggestion I can make. Don’t run GW2 at a retina resolution. 1280×800 is the typical 13" resolution so I suggest you run it at that, anything higher is putting strain on your graphics card and processor.
^— That resolution bit is really important. You’re using a 13" laptop, which is not all that powerful, with a very very high resolution screen that takes up a lot of resources and power…
