Hello all, Im currently running a Mid 2012 13’ Mac Book Pro… Intel core i5, 4g RAM, intel graphics 4000. While in WvW I get around 7-15-30 fps…. Its terrible especially while in heavy traffic and in Tyria I can manage mid 20’s… Is there any way for me to up my FPS or increase my performance in game? I understand the Mac Client is in beta but 7 fps in WvW is UNBEARABLE… Thanks, McNair

I understand that you are trying to help, but this is a remarkably unhelpful thing to say >.>

Yes it works an awful lot better in bootcamp, I personally run the game in bootcamp, but not everyone wants to shell out for a windows install. If bootcamp were absolutely free then I would say go ahead and post the link – but it isn’t.

Hiya all,
Anybody knows why the Guild Wars 2 install on bootcamp is taking so long? It is only downloading at about 200kbps even though my wifi is apparently 7mbps (not good, I know). Is there a way to fix this? I haven’t really tried too much yet, and any help would be appreciated!

OP, make sure you have the frame limiter in the graphics options set to 60. That worked for me when I had a similar issue.

@Arvizal, make sure you’ve installed the bootcamp drivers. There’s no real reason it should take that long or be that slow :S

Thanks for your reply, tried reinstalling them and its still not working, and it seems as though, according to my searches that many other people are having this issue… I wonder why…….. :/ I think I’ll just play on my mac at a solid 30 fps :/

If you already have the game installed on OSX you can just copy the files across into windows – that way you don’t have to redownload the entire game.

First boot into OSX.
Open your applications folder and right click the guild wars 2 app. Click “Show Package Contents”. Then go Contents>>Resources>>Transgaming>>C_Drive>>GW2>> Then there is a GW2.dat file which is 21GB. Copy the .dat file to your dekstop.

Then boot into windows and open up Windows Explorer. Browse to your OSX Harddrive and I can’t remember the exact file path but it is something like “Users>>Your username>>Desktop” – then just copy the .dat file from there and replace the one on your windows install. Then when you boot it shouldn’t need to download anything.

I’ve experienced fps problems on my mac running the osx client since i bought the game. Unfortunately my DVD-R is broken and bootcamp through a pendrive wasn’t a success…

I’ve experienced FPS lag even though i had lowest settings with an avarage of 30fps.
Anyways, searching on google i found a tip.

Opening the Guild Wars 2 folder found in the Application Support folder, you will find a file called “config”.

Make a copy of that file in case the tweaking doesn’t work, and put it in a different folder.

Open config and find the line “MTD3D” and set it to 1

Save the file and reopen the game.

It worked for me and the game runs great now, even on spvp and wvw.
I hope it works for most of you fellow mac users

That’s interesting. Changing the MTD3D value used to work back closer to the original release of the OSX beta, but in more recent times when I had tried it there was no change whatsoever. It’s also worth pointing out that there are two config files, one in Application Support, and one within the package contents of the actual GW2 app.

http://huguesval.com/blog/2012/02/installing-windows-7-on-a-mac-without-superdrive-with-virtualbox/

That is a guide to installing windows when you can’t do so using a disk drive and don’t have a mac that supports USB installs.
I’ve done it successfully myself numerous times, the guide is however a little difficult to follow in places and can be extremely fiddly and prone to not working >.>
