Just finished downloading the update, now when I start the game I get a black screen and depending where my cursor is at I get a arrow or a hand… Black Screen of Death for Mac Users? Any other Mac users have this problem?

Well off to Windows than, glad to hear its not just me.

I’ve got a similar problem, just that the screen isn’t black. When I launch the game after updating, everything on my screen turns a shade darker and I only see the cursor as an arrow/hand.

talking with a few friends on vent, it seems only Mountain lion users are having this issue. wonder how long it will take to get fixed…

Same for me, interestingly the client crashed a few times while downloading the update too and my hard drive is suddenly corrupted (ran disk utility). MBPr 15 inch

My friend is having this issue except the screen is white. Please fix this ANet, I’d like for my guildies to be able to play the event together this weekend.

my support ticket got passed on to the Mac guys so hopefully they are working on something. I’d like it fixed now, but as long as its worked out before the event starts tomorrow I’ll be happy

same exact issue, i thought it was a hardware issue so i updated my computer to lion and now my computer is running so slow…

yeah my friend has this issue, it makes a black screen with a hand in the middle.

My launch screen patched in a few files about 2 min ago which downloaded quickly… but I still have the same results as everyone else =(

really feels like nobody of the gw2-team is even interested that far in this issue to just read and comment on our problem…

I have my next chemo on monday. I really hope you guys fix this asap! Because this game keeps my thoughts away from my future. But seeing its still not fixed im quite down.

Will it be fixed so we mac players can also join this one time event?

dang Im suffering from the same problem. it worked fine after the first patch today but after the second one i started to have problems. Hopefully it will get fixed…

I noticed Anet is quick in responses @ the other tech forum. To bad that its too much to even let us know that they aren looking in to the problem…

That’s just ridicolous… why do they have a forum if they obviously give a f on what people post here?
For me this means, that they didn’t even take a look in the mac tech forum the last 11 hours…
Perhaps there are some recent performance Problems for windowsplayers atm… but wait… if u take a look at the normale tech forum.. hmm… nobody’s complaining…
Would be really curious what u guys are doing there right now that prevents you from wasting time by looking into the mac forum…
so is it more important to give the massively bigger croud of windows plays an awesome performance than just first managing that all players can even have any performance…

or are it just the missing manners and there really is sb working to get this fixed who doesn’t feel in need to inform us about… that would be incredibly nice…

I’m sorry to hear that guys, hope ANet will fix this issue soon so we all could enjoy the lost shore event together..
I’m running on iMac 21" late 2011 OSX 10.8.2 and I didn’t get any black screen at all after the patch..
Hope this helps in some way..

Same issue here, cursor is changed (hand or arrow, depending on position) after both updates.

Im having a another issue, my client does not update! See the attachments!

i bought the game on wednesday night and didn’t even start playing till yesterday, after 10 minutes of playing the update started and then this whole error occurred. I DID NOT PAY 60 DOLLARS TO WATCH A BLACK SCREEN!

nice how we all are still being ignored with this issue by any gms or who ever is responsible for this stuff here…

SOLVED (for me anyway)

Procedure:
in finder menu go to your library (shown by pressing alt in the “go to” menu)
go to the application support folder
delete the “guild wars 2” folder

play !

I dont have this folder here. My /Library/Application Support does not have an “Guild Wars 2” folder. :/

Edit: Found it, but this does not work.

It works but you really have to take library via finder and not via HD and it works like a charm!

Still nothing from Mac Support, but I have fixed it using the above fix.

note, i did need to use terminal to find the folder and remove it, but then launched and small download and it worked.

Support just replied as I was writing this with a massively long email I am not going to read.

I hope the fix Drax has found works out for everyone. I have friends on Mac and would like them and all of you to be able to enjoy the game. ANet should hire Drax haha.

After 19 hours, ANet’s Support team is teaching me how to save my System Profile even when I have it attached to the ticket I have raised.

Too bad I am currently attempting to re-install the client but the server’s upload speed is horrible. I might get a chance to try the USER FIX in the near future when the install is complete.

Koga, they probably replied with steps telling you how to save the System Profile.

Add me to the list of people who wants to marry Drax now.

I located the folder, deleted it and everything. But when i open guild wars 2 A mini patch goes on and the file i just deleted reappears!?

this is so depressing, i bought guild wars to join this event, now i cant even play. Bullkitten
