Guild Wars 2

There seems to still be files downloading, but the progress bar isn’t moving. It’s download well over 2000MB by now (I was logged in earlier today so I was up to date).
Speed has dropped to between 30-80 KB/sec when my broadband is around 30 MB. Tried to download a new client and start over but that isn’t working either.
Any help would be appreciated.

your not alone mate, i have one file remaining but am getting terrible DL speed like 30kbs when the rest of the patch downloaded at 3-5mb/sec – maybe something is up with the servers

As bad as it sounds I’m glad it’s not just me. It’s just very frustrating that so many other people have logged in. I’ve heard the main problems are with EU players.

Have you guys tried using the streaming client as a temporary fix? I just tried it after an hour of being stuck on the 1 file and it has let me log in etc

Just right click on your gw2 shortcut – properties – and add this to the end of the target line: -StreamingClient (After the ").

May not work for everyone and i’ve seen a few people about on the forums that it has reset their download so if you don’t have unlimited internet you may want to hold off on trying it…

Use the following command in Terminal (Utilities > Terminal) to access the streaming client on mac

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\GW2.exe —StreamingClient

I just used the fix from this thread which solved my perpetual download problem:

174.35.71.9:80 was the one that worked for me in Scotland

Terminal command

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80

Does anyone actually know the size of this final file? I got to over 900MB downloaded before the speed stopped at 0KB/sec

Also, someone mentioned UK. Is it confirmed just UK people having problems with this? I’m from oop north myself.

the actual file was about 1045 mb on the pc I have where gw2 now works (its downloaded over 2gb on the one that doesn’t)

This is not working,have you ever tried on mac? it’s so weird that not a single staff come to help here, since many people can’t login to gw2 for many hours!! Many pc users can login no, cos “some individuals” fixed the bug. Is there any “individual” come to fix this Anet bug on mac? Or will I need to wait until next Anet upgrade??

There is only one thing I can think of some of you might try if Taylor’s fix doesn’t work. It was a problem about 2 years ago with Mac people stuck on one file. The fix was to change the language to French and let it finish downloading then back to English. Like I said I don’t know if it is still applicable but it did work in the past.

Worked for me, downloaded around 50 MB ish then completed.

So I tried Taylor’s and JustTrogdor’s both at the same time and one of them seems to have worked…lol

I can confirm for me at least, that if you’ve been trying to download via English and got stuck, switching the client to French, then back about a quarter of the way through fixes it without having to download the French client all the way through.

Did you try the language switch to French as mentioned above? Let us know if it works.

Well this thread is regarding Mac issues. If you are running Windows to enable the streaming client you have to right click the shortcut, select properties and then this:

You have to put the -StreamingClient after the quote marks and with a space between the " and the -
