Mac installer won't open
That’s odd. But I’ve had the same thing happen even after owning the game for sometime now.
Rudimentary fix out of the way; did you reset your machine? I’ve found that when the game client is acting up in this particular fashion, a reset does the trick. (laptop on for too long, resources need to be reset, etc, al)
There’s also a terminal function for this, but I can’t recall it at this exact moment.
Otherwise, did you do a clean uninstall? Simply removing the app from your applications won’t do the trick.
Delete the GW2 app as normal, then;
Click out of any windows so all you have is your Finder.
Click Go, Hold down Alt, click Library
Find the Application Support Folder for GW2 and drag that into the trash.
Empty trash, and try again.
Sorry if this is stuff you’ve already tried, but it’s worth suggesting since you didn’t mention it.
Let me know if that helps at all!
I have been trying, and have the same problem. its a 2014 15" macbook pro retina.
guild wars2 ‘starts’, and i gte the ghostly blue mission control window outline.. but the game never moves past that.
I had the same issue but it finally showed up. My issue now is I downloaded like 40% of the files last night and when I logged back on today it started over.
Same is happening to me right now. I am wondering if anyone found a solution. I just downloaded the client last night and was playing earlier today. I have a 13" mac book pro.
Thanks!
@DerOmega you solution worked!!! Thank you so much!
I had the same issue as above. I would attempt to open guild wars 2 and the icon would show up in dock, but no windows would open, regardless of how long I waited.
DerOmega’s “clean restart” method worked for me. I had not previously been deleting application support files from my library, and that was apparently preventing me from reinstalling the game (which I had attempted before reading DerOmega’s post).
Thank you, DerOmega! I highly recommend for anyone with the same problem to try this method.
I just got it today, and everything seemed to be going fine but then it will stop downloading at like 86 percent. I did the whole clean up repair thing and it started running fine again, but same thing it would stop installing but this time at 36 percent. I tried to delete the files, but it keeps saying that something is in use or that it is open. I have force quit everything and have deleted all guild wars files, but when I go to delete the actual folder it won’t let me. It won’t even let me shut down my computer. Am I missing something? Has this happened to anyone else? I have a macbook pro and I’m running mavericks right now I got this in 2011, it runs everything else fine and I’ve downloaded other things no problem. I have the space necessary to put the game on as well.
This issue just now happened to me. I’ve tried doing a ‘clean’ install, but when I attempt to re-download the game, it does not even pop-up (the initial issue).
I’ve sent in a ticket, but feel hopeless :[
Not sure what to even do..

I’m having the same problem. Did you manage to find a solution?
just downloaded this game on mac 15" retina and i can only double click it on finder and only a window of the GD2 game image is up, I’ve waited for an hour or so and it still doesn’t do anything. Spent good money on this game and my hope is destroyed >:(
Guys. If you close the installer during installation you don’t lose the progress, the percentage does however revert to 0. I repeat, you aren’t losing download progress, it’s just only showing you the percentage of files downloaded for the specific time that you have opened the installer app.

I know this is old as hell, but I was having this problem, googled it, and this helped~ Thanks.
okay, so, today has been a first for me with this issue.
The icon appeared below and wouldn’t show my log-in/pw page. I sent in a ticket report before finding this page. I deleted before but I had no idea i had to go into finder and delete my gw2 file in library and then re-download and restart. After 4 hours of flustered anguish it finally worked! Its almost a three-part process, with the deleting, finding terminal,, repairing and downloading. Thank you all for having this issue way before me and fixing it~! Thank you! If you have this problem don’t anguish like me and follow the steps. Thank you thank you thank you!
I have been having the exact same issue (clicking the GW2 app in the dock wouldn’t launch the application), and just tried DerOmega’s solution. The post might be old, but the solution still works! Thank you!
