I have a base model Macbook Air 13. Wasn’t really designed for gaming but I thought I’d give it a try.

Pretty unplayable on low with the new Mac client. Lag between actions even on minimum resolution (either full screen or windowed). I didn’t even try WvW because of this.

Only time I would open is for moving items around on the TP otherwise it’s best to just boot it up in Boot Camp (where it is very playable on the same computer) or better yet my gaming PC.

This is quite strange, because my top MBA 13 late 2011 is completely playable on lowest settings. There is no eyecandy at all, actually it looks like quake there, but its still possible to do anything other than taking part in 50ppl events which even my pc cant handle perfectly.
Afaik mid 2012 have sandybridges, so the performance should be definitely better. What version do u have?

It’s the base model. Maybe I’m just spoiled by my nice PC.

Although it still is notably better in Boot Camp.

Mid 2012 MBAs have Ivy Bridges with an Intel HD4000 GPU. AFAIK the 4GB models use 384MB as video memory, the 8GB models like mine use 512MB. That shouldn’t make any difference as we’re currently bound to lowest settings to get limited playable framerates: 15-25fps at 1440×900 with Render mode: Subsample and Shadows: none
Not tested on Bootcamp, but ArenaNet reported about 35fps for the Intel HD4000, I guess on a Windows system:
