Mail with 20 gold
Why would you risk accepting that? Send it back. Either it’s from a gold seller and they sent it to the wrong person (you’d not want to accept that gold!), or it’s from a legit person and they sent it to the wrong person. If it’s the latter, I’m sure you’d want someone returning your money if you sent it to the wrong person, wouldn’t you?
Yeah, I understand that. But by accepting the gold I could craft my way to 80 tonight. It’s so freaking hard to decide.
Hmmmmm. I dont’t think there is a rule that you are not allowed to accept the gold. See it as this, you get an envelope, adressed to you, you open it and it contains a 100 USD bill (or any valua equal to that amount in your country). There is no reason and you dont understand why. But there is an adress of the sender.
As far as I know there is no reason to not accept the money. However!
Do you really want to get to level 80 that way?? would you feel happy with your accomplishments?
My advise is to accept it, then reply to the mail and attach the money (all of it) with a short message that your very happy with your gift, cause it would mean you could craft your way to 80 but you don’t know why you where chosen for this generous gift and therefor you have to return it (or somethign like that in your own word).
If I was Lord Pen I would sent you 2 gold back for your honesty.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
My suggestion is to returnto sender it. It sounds like a grave mistake. My friend had several exoensive dyes sent to him by accident. Basically th sender was accidenlty clicked in him didnt notice and sent the items. They were for his wife and he was very grateful for then beig returned and we are now all good friends.
Be a great guy and at least whisper or mail the person back at the very least asking wha was up.

It does sounds as if someone typo’d the intended recipient’s name. It would be kind to at least whisper and see if this is a legitimate player (RMT seldom respond) to whom you can return the gold.
Thanks for asking, and for wanting to do the right thing!

I suggest implementing a SENT panel in the inbox, so the sender could at least re-contact the wrongfully mail-received player. I have sent mails to the wrong player before and don’t remember the misspelled name, so I wasn’t able to apologize or clear things out about the wrongfully sent mail. @Anet

Most likely this is a “wrong person” typo’d mail. Your account name is Martin. Do you happen to have a character named “Martin” as well? The reason I ask is because I have 2 characters on my account, Dara and Kidd. Both are short names and easily typo’d. I’ve received many many many PMs, mails and guild invites that were meant instead for “Dora”, “Kid”, “D?ra”, “Dãra”, or any other combination of accent marks you can come up with.
I’ve never received any money in the mail though. Darn. But if I did, i’d probably send it back.
