I check the forum after I had some issues this morning (around 08:00 UTC) with disconnects as a lot of people had. And I see: The maintenance is over. Have fun! And I think: What maintenance? Nothing more can be found on the forum. There isn’t a ArenaNet post for the last 13 hours. On Twitter I could found a message that ArenaNet was aware of connectivity issues. But is the maintenance is over releated to these connectivity issues? Is it all working again?

Why are there Twitter messages and not one message on your own forum? I don’t mind you guys use Twitter, but you have a forum full of posts about connectivity errors and you don’t post anything there? Why?

I don’t know now where to post suggestions about using your own forum have to go. If this is not the right place move it to another place. But please: If you have access to the official Twitter account I expect you are allowed to post a message here about issues with the game. So do it!

They had a message on the forums. In the same place as the “The maintenance is over. Have fun!” message.
It was also supplied in-game.

It was emergency maintenance in order to try and fix the dc issues.

Wasn’t a real post, but there earlier was a notification that they were doing maintenance (same spot as where I later got the notification that the maintenance was over). Not sure if that message showed if you weren’t actually logged in to the forum.

Maintenance message however showed up later than the actual disconnect issues, at least for me :/ So perhaps that was the same for you and you missed the message on the maintenance cause you visited the forum before and after that notification was there?

Correct. I did have issues in-game around 08:00 UTC and stopped playing. I expected it would take a few hours for ArenaNet to solve the issues as it was night for them. I checked the forum again an hour ago and only saw the The maintenance is over. Have fun! message. Only after I made my post I realised ArenaNet probably used the same mechanism to show an earlier message. It is nice they also showed a message in-game.

The problem with this approach is that for me there was no relation between their message an hour ago and the issues I had this morning. On Twitter I could see the history, here on the forum I couldn’t. So it was a (very) good way to handle the issue for players who were active an hour ago, but not for players who just came back to see the status. Therefore I will change my suggestion: Make this kind of messages permanent so people can see the history and don’t (only) use this mechanism
