I’ve had a character called “The Druggernaut” for 3-4 months. Now they make me change my name can someone please tell me why?

The name itself is more of a play on large pharma corporations not condoning drug usage.

Drug references are prohibited in the Naming Policy. It doesn’t matter what you say you meant, because no one here is psychic.

You answered your own question. Some people may think that name would be condoning drug usage; and, in fact, someone did because it evidently was reported.
I am sure you can come up with another suitable name. =)

As far as I am aware, there are no automatic controls to prevent names from being used, other than those that are already in use by other players or NPC’s, or quite possibly a list of certain keywords. When you create a character and name it, I suspect there is no automatic “check” to see if the name fits in with ArenaNet’s policy. I also suspect that there is nobody in their offices that scan through lists of character names to see that they are ok or not.

In order to have a character flagged for renaming, someone needs to report it to ArenaNet. This is most often done by other players. Once the report is recieved by Support, the request is reviewed by a human being in Support and not by a computer. You may have had a particular name for several months, however it could be tthe name was not reported as potentially unsuitable until recently.

And the list of words not acceptable is a exact match list, IIRC – not a partial – to make sure we don’t get any more Kes*** Hills XD.

Or when the forums went nuts and ignored spaces to see if it should censor words.
